Resco is embarrassingly hideous on your wrist it’s so massive. Watches are not supposed to look like a clock on your wrist. The 36 mm watch is your ideal size. My subjective opinion but everyone else seems to agree

When you unscrew it, it seems to pop into a position, and then when you rotate it forward, it pops out more. Mine does the same as in your video. Is that normal?

Dive watches have a uni-directional bezel so if the bezel is accidently turned while diving, it is not moved in a direction that would over-estimate how much time (air) you have left in your scuba tank. If the bezel inadvertently got turned, you might under-estimate it, but not over-estimate it. So it can be a life or death situation.
@soundsoserious7 күн бұрын
Fascinating. But I wonder how it pertains to a watch called the F1.
@Mark-rw3kw7 күн бұрын
@@soundsoserious I am not sure what the watch is called makes any difference as to whether it can be used as a dive watch or not. That would depend on whether it was water tight. Nevertheless, Tag would experience immeasurable criticism from the watch community if they had a rotating bezel, that rotated in either direction, for the reasons I explained. Some watches don't even have a rotating bezel, even though they have the numbers on the bezel that looks like it should rotate for use as a timer of some sort.

Regarding the size it looks good .. rule of thumb, if you can see the bracelet curve on your wrist this wont be over sized watch. Second, personally i believe in terms of design cartier always leads compare to rolex. For example, santos can be dressed up or down all you need is leather strap or steal 😊 this is a great watch you got its classy, high quality caliber and a brand no one can beat in term of design. Dunno if it's can get on board with referring to the finest watchmaker-made quartz movement in the world as "blah" or "meh"... nor dismissing "most of" Grand Seiko as the same when their dials compete directly with Patek Philippe, A Lange & Sohn etc... I like Rolexes too, but if you don't understand what Grand Seiko does, then you don't understand watches, period.
@soundsoseriousАй бұрын
Well I don’t think this comes vaguely close to the “finest watchmaker-made quartz movement” but I appreciate a Seiko fan whenever I find one. Appreciate the honest opinion but I’d strongly advise getting this at the steep discount you can find easily in the secondary market and not bother with retail at all (even with the customary discount, etc). Check out some of my other GS bashing videos too!
@LeonManetАй бұрын
@@soundsoserious You don't consider the 9F series to be "vaguely close" to some of the finest quartz movements in the world? Again, I'm far from a Grand Seiko fanboy, but that statement is bananas on its face. The movement features torque comparable to a mechanical movement, there is a backlash feature, a non-visible first beat between every second to ensure precision, and it's thermocompensated. They literally grow their own specialty crystals. Is anyone else doing that? Question- what DO you consider to be some of the best quartz movements going these days?
@soundsoseriousАй бұрын
@@LeonManetThere’s a guy named Francois Paul. If only I could remember his last name. Anyway, he’s an actual watchmaker, and his company makes the finest quartz watch money can buy. It’s the top of the mountain, the ne plus ultra. Lots of companies make thermocompensated quartz movements that’s nothing important or special, I had one in my Certina, nice watch for $250. (Check out the review). Look, your memorization of the Seiko advertising points is commendable, truly! I just happen to actually own all these watches so I can only give my hands on opinions. Take it or leave it I guess. Ah I remember now, Journe.
@LeonManetАй бұрын
@@soundsoserious I'm sorry, but you will be hard-pressed to find anyone serious about watches who will agree that the FP Journe Elegante 1210 calibre is a better quartz movement than the Grand Seiko 9F calibre. FP Journe are seriously beautiful and very rare pieces, but the Elegante's 1210, while hand-assembled like the GS 9F series, does not come close to matching the technology incorporated in the 9F series of movements. Thermocompensation is nothing new, as you pointed out, but that is the least of it. The 9F series develops torque comparable to a mechanical movement. This is a huge deal. It means heavier hands featuring more planes for finishing may be used... which you see often on mechanical watches, but not so often on quartz pieces, which usually must use lighter and somewhat plainer (at least under a loupe) handsets. Additionally, the 9F movement will briefly stop for a fraction of a second between beats to micro-adjust the smoothness and accuracy of the tick, ensuring the second hand lands precisely on the marker. And finally, when I said they grow their own specialty quartz crystals, I meant it. And because they grow them, they can individually test them before incorporating them into their movements, to ensure they use only the best and therefore build the most accurate movements. FP Journe's 1210 movement, while encased in a very nice watch, is functionally more comparable to a late 90's Breitling "Super Quartz" movement. Sure, the auto-cutoff is nice, but this is a very simple thing to do, and, honestly, if we're speaking in terms of practicality, a parlor-trick which is achieved at the cost of maximum overall stability. Do you want maximum accuracy both in time-marking and time accuracy? Or do you want to replace your battery less often? For what it's worth, this has nothing to do with "memorizing Seiko advertising points", and very much to do with plain old experience with the movements. I don't mean to offend you, but you seem to espouse a lot of opinions that horology experts and watchmakers would find very, let's say, controversial. And you state them as if they are established facts, and then give actual advice based on them. I enjoy your videos, but maybe add a disclaimer or two that these are your opinions?

Not sure why you say this is Citizen’s top of the range diver ? Dive watches are now only used as an adjunct to dive computers and as such Citizen’s range which also have depth monitoring are far superior for diving purposes as a back up. This piece could be considered 😊a Dive Style watch or Desk Diver especially on a bracelet so needs to be reviewed as such. Having said all that it is ISO Certified as a Diver Watch so clearly ISO do not share your view on its lack of dive capabilities.

@marcodem3Ай бұрын
Thanks for this eye-opener. I was going to fall for the design. Several minutes per day off is way too much for me. I would pay double the price if it had a good movement.
@soundsoseriousАй бұрын
It’s cheap enough to not be a major issue though. I think I paid $500 for this and while that’s not insignificant, it’s not much in the world of watches. That’s a single bracelet link for some watch brands. If you like the design then I’d say go for it. Even though it’s a cheap movement the quality of the design and the well made case make up for it.
