Your movement is obviously magentized or defective (the spec sheet offers accuracy between -10 to +30s/day). The Miyota 9000 series is a high quality movement in this price range and competes easily against the swiss sw200.

Can confirm that. My Lorier Watch keeps the time well.

Totally agree - sounds like a case of a defective movement & you should return it whilst it's still under warranty. The Miyota movement they're using is relatively high spec & not really of the throw away variety... sounds like you've just been unlucky.

Off by several minutes? Fashion watch? I’ve never heard of several minutes for the miyota 9000 series movement. I have several. It’s by definition not a fashion watch.

Check out the listed specs on this movement and get back to me. Hey, I bought the watch so I’m glad you like it. It’s a cool and stylish timepiece that’s got a fun vintage vibe. Okay, it’s not a fashion watch. But…I’m not buying it and expecting say an entry level Sinn or something in that price range (Longines, Tissot, etc.). Thats a different neighborhood and my expectations are naturally higher and this ain’t that.

About the timekeeping, it really is bad luck. I've had several miyotas like this and they all were spot on. It must be a lemon. Return it. (That miyota movement is comparable to Seiko 6r15 and usually estimated as more reliable).

Thanks for the info! After 4 days it’s 2 minutes fast. Not terrible I guess.

Could even be magnetised from shipping, because those miyota 9000s are definitely not "disposable" movements and should be operating within spec
@soundsoserious8 ай бұрын
Spec is -10 to + 30 on this series of movements. So a few minutes off every week is not a biggie. To be fair I wasn’t expecting it to be much better, but wanted to make sure folks don’t expect accurate timekeeping. The watch is great other than that.

Several minutes for a miyota in such a short time means it's either defective or magnetized. Miyota movements rival Sellita movements in accuracy. I have a few that gain no more than a few seconds a day.

Thanks for this eye-opener. I was going to fall for the design. Several minutes per day off is way too much for me. I would pay double the price if it had a good movement.
@soundsoseriousАй бұрын
It’s cheap enough to not be a major issue though. I think I paid $500 for this and while that’s not insignificant, it’s not much in the world of watches. That’s a single bracelet link for some watch brands. If you like the design then I’d say go for it. Even though it’s a cheap movement the quality of the design and the well made case make up for it.

Beautiful watch. Sounds like your Astra may be magnetized - that Miyota 9015 is a great movement; reliable with very respectable accuracy for its class. Maybe get the thing checked out and you’ll be in good shape.

Miyota 9 series is a well respected performance movement, it should run really well. Return yours.
@soundsoserious7 ай бұрын
It’s “settled down” actually. After a few more days it’s off by just a minute. I think the resting position makes a difference. That and regular wear as opposed to sporadic.
@slayergut7 ай бұрын
I got mine and it's running +1s a day. Even 1 minute is way off the norm for this movement..

Whoa lucky movement! The specs for these movements is a 40 second spread…so it’s not exactly a chronometer spec. Glad you got a good one! 👌🏼

The movement os actually quite good as it is a mixota 9000 series they mostly do like +-20s a day

Yeah that’s about right. It’s about 40 second range give or take.
