Cool video. Looks like a great river to paddle? How do you mount your 360 camera onto your kayak so that you can get the third person view? Most of my Insta360 footage looks a bit ‘fish eye’ when I zoom out during editing.

Hey thanks! It is a nice 'n humble river between Tokyo and Chiba. The Edo River is long and flat with plenty of natural scapes while it runs through densely populated metropolitan area. No lock gates, weirs or dams for 50km. Almost no power boats. Some river islands to hop onto. LOTS of trashes 😭 but quite ideal river for paddlers. I just mounted the stick onto the bag in stern with bungee nets. As long as the nets are tightly secured, it will do the job👍Make sure to check the fitting and don't extend the stick too long. Probably not suitable for extremely choppy bouncy conditions.
@TheKayakCrew19 күн бұрын
@@WildEddieProductions Thanks for the reply. I presume your kayak is longer than mine so that your 360 footage looks better. I also mount my camera on the stern or bow using the a 109cm long extendable stick but I often only extend it to 70-80cm at most. When I edit using 360 Studio on my Mac, the footage tends to look 'fish eye' when I zoom out.
@WildEddieProductions6 күн бұрын
@@TheKayakCrew Yeah, I suppose we need to find the right angles and distances. To achieve the third person view, I set the 360 camera somewhat outward, giving some angle to the stick. So it'd be away from the body. It could cause issues on horizon of the footage sometimes, then I just fix it in the post by using Insta360 Studio.
@TheKayakCrew6 күн бұрын
Ok, I see. I will have to find some secure way to mount my stick at an angle I guess. Mine is just on a tripod so looks straight down the kayak.
@WildEddieProductions6 күн бұрын
@@TheKayakCrew Tweaking around is always the fun part! Like I explained earlier, I just use bungee cords and nets to hold the stick onto the stuffed dry bag. So, they act as a tripod in my case. Then I lay it on the kayak, so the camera will be extended outward horizontally.

I enjoyed your video. It looks like you covered a lot of ground that day. Do you know how many km you ended up paddling? My wife and I tandem kayak sometimes along the Miura Peninsula. We usually paddle around 立石公園 or 和田海水浴場.
@WildEddieProductions6 ай бұрын
Thank you! We paddled about 15km. Launched at Miura Beach and turned around at Cape Kochizaki (東風崎). Someone mentioned that his log was near 20km. (You can see our path on Google Street View: maps.app.goo.gl/CnpFpnXekxsuDKgB9 ) Those areas on the west side of Miura Peninsula are nice too!
@michaelpiescer45526 ай бұрын
@@WildEddieProductions Thanks for letting me know! I just checked out your path and I can't believe how far everyone paddled.That's amazing! We usually run out of power after two or three hours, so I don't think we'll be padding 15km to 20 km anytime soon :) My wife and I will have to try that side of the peninsula sometime. Is there usually enough parking available at Miura Beach?

This is Mr. Lee who lives in Incheon, Korea. Please tell me how you feel about using PAKAYAK.
@WildEddieProductions6 ай бұрын
It's very convenient in many aspects. While it is a hard shell rigid kayak, it doesn't take up much space and can be prepared quickly. I personally don't feel confident going out to rough open water with Pakayk, just saying there are many other serious sea kayaks for that purpose. But other than that, it's pretty cool overall.

Wowww... Really nice video! The way you held the boat on edge in the waves at the 5:47 mark! Sheesh, I was nervous watching, but you kept that edge - and with just a splash skirt. Very beautiful area to paddle!

Thank you! Yea exactly...! I had cameras sticking around, and skirt was just a splash cover. The group was getting scattered, and I was trying to stick around while being pushed by the wind and wave. It could've been a lot worse, but overall, it was awesome!

Hey thanks! This was a part of 35km kayaking around Tokyo urban area, and we launched from Ojima-Komatsugawa Park (大島小松川公園). maps.app.goo.gl/omLLb6HTQffSr1cL7?g_st=ic We crossed Sumidagawa River, paddled through Kandagawa River, visited Nihonbashi etc.
@Namiya10 ай бұрын
@@WildEddieProductionsthanks ! I was hoping for a launching point nearer to Kanda river but I guess I'll have to cross Sumida River to get there (I'll be on SUP so slower than kayaks). I looked a lot on google map but there's balisters everywhere around rivers, except on your launching point. Thanks nonetheless 😊

@@Namiya Oh I see, and the feeling is so relatable lol. Whatever you paddle, the first and the last stretch of Onagi River is long and boring... And yes, the rivers and the canals in that area are wrapped with fences, and going over them is not my style. I suppose the only solution would be leaving early when days are longer. Watch out for other boats and have a safe paddling!
@paulineng87604 ай бұрын
@@WildEddieProductions I'm also interested in launch points around Tokyo. Are we allowed to go over the fences?
@WildEddieProductions4 ай бұрын
@@paulineng8760 I can’t say yes to that.. you might get lucky and get away with it, but technically speaking, that’s something they made for reasons. If you damage the fence, you might get changed for it. It’s pretty tough to launch and pick up over the fence anyway. So I don’t think it’s worth the risk.

Thank you so much! I suppose those gears and equipments are something we all come down to find how suitable for what we do on the water..! Pakayak let me own a full size rigid kayak in Tokyo. The bright body color is quite helpful for drones to keep up the tracking mode. 360 cameras are such a breakthrough for these types of activities...!
