I like these, but I despise the loud dramatic music distracting me in the background. I like classical and I have ADHD so I struggle to focus on the relatively quiet speech atop it. Thank you for the concise and helpful vocab lesson!

So glad to found you! Purchased your book and now make daily use of your website, enjoying both immensely. I have been trying to learn Polish for years. Most programs are only designed to get a student to level A2 and others are designed to only prepare a tourist for a 1-week visit to Warsaw. I resorted to scholarly textbooks on Polish grammar that go too in depth for a student and most Poles couldn't tell you any of the rules or proper usage outlined in these tomes. Others just ignore grammar, but you've actually created a user-friendly approach for the English speaker. I pray that you are working on other books for the English student of Polish!

Widziałam psa od mojego okna, ale mnie nie widział.
@courseofpolish3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the sentence! "pies od mojego okna" is not a correct phrase. It means "the dog of my window" or "the dog 'dealing with/responsible for' my window". More reasonable examples with "od" usage: dom od mojej mamy - my mom's house pan od naprawy ogrzewania - heating repair man The correct sentence would be: Widziałam psa przez moje okno, ale on mnie nie widział.

I appreciate your charts and explanations, really helpful. Every time I see the consonants written down in lists of hard/hardened/soft they are never in alphabetical order. They seem to be in random order. Is there an order to them that I'm just not seeing through my anglicised mind?
@courseofpolish3 ай бұрын
hmm, interesting question, I've never paid attention to it. I've taken my table from "Polish Grammar in a Nutshell". After looking at the table for a moment I've spotted a couple of ordering rules. For sure voiced/voiceless consonants are next to each other like p/b f/w s/z etc. Consonants with acute accent are grouped together. Two letter consonants are at the end followed by soft consonants without hard consonant counterpart. That's all I've noticed 😅
@lollylula63993 ай бұрын
@@courseofpolish Thank you! That makes sense. Now you've highlighted those things they seem obvious 😅If it was alphabetised the groupings would be all over the place. Now I've got some rules to the ordering it will help with my memorising. Learning Polish is an ongoing adventure. As I go along various aspects I don't understand at the time later on layer up with other aspects and my perspectives and understanding become greater. 🙏🏼

I've seen your videos last year, before going to Białystok for a year. I subscribed but I didn't expect you to upload again and I'm glad that you did! Your videos have been very precious to me and I haven't find other KZbin channels that explain the polish language as clear as you do. 👏🏻👏🏻 Dziękuję bardzo I have one doubt about the second sentence, why the word "park" is translated as a genitive instead of a nominative?
@courseofpolish3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment! 🙂 The second sentence uses genitive plural because of the quantifier "kilka (several)". The same situation will be with other quantifiers: dużo parków, więcej parków, mało parków, mniej parków.

Jarek! Great to see you here again. Of course this is another helpful video form you. If you are making more content for YT again please would you consider making a video about preposition selection/use? For the first example in this video "We are walking in the park" I was trying to decide between na and w and then when it said po I was 😯 I have a compulsion to learn Polish, one day I will be conversational 😅
@courseofpolish3 ай бұрын
hello, the difference is a niuanse. "po" emphasizes more the fact that you're visiting different places inside the park during your walk, and "w" emphasizes more the fact that your walk happens inside the park. "po" is more common after the noun "spacerować" 🙂
