Doh! Over 1 year in on the language, and it only just clicked NOW, watching your vid. THANK YOU SIR!!! Most teachers (1) fail to point out if they're covering a whole topic universally or just throwing out some random disconnected facts. The fact that you made me know I'll master present tense concept with this one vid, made me pay attention rather than day dream (2) Most teachers neglect the visual aspect... just the little bit of using the right visual for my brain to 'snapshot' by using those arrow stand in symbols for the verb stems made all the difference to me. Most Polish grammar tables I've seen look like pure fricking chaos (contrast this to tables Japanese use to present their grammar for example).... Thank you again!!

I am recommending your video on some Duolingo forums when learners (even at a late stage of the course) are struggling to understand certain things. The way you explain things is PRICELESS. I have had many teachers in my life, practical and theoretical, and across extremely diverse subjects, but I would like to say that you really do have a very efficient way of explaining things. :)

Jaki przydatny filmik! Brawo!!! Ciekawostka: we włoskim mamy dwie formy dla "są": "sono" i (staromodną albo regionalną na południu kraju) "son". To dlatego, że nie byłem zaskoczony gdy widziałem "jestem, jesteś... są...": pomyślałem "och, mówią po prostu tak jak my!". 😄

Fantastic! I recognize that having once studied a bit of Russian, even though too long ago, the endings sounded logical to me, despite the challenging spellings, and also the irregular to be has the third person plural almost like our Portuguese language 'são', true Indo-European convergence! An easier form of this table would have only "ja" and "on". With these two you get everything because ty/my/wy are always based on "on", uou just add "sz","my" and "cie" respectively; and "oni" always ends in "ą" taking "ja" root. Thanks for the video, it is really useful.
@courseofpolish
@courseofpolish 4 жыл бұрын
That's almost the same method as the one I showed, just instead of "ty" form you used "on" form. Most grammar books use the first two forms "ja" and "ty". I agree, that starting from "on" form would be a little easier because you have to only add additional endings -sz/-my/-cie instead of replacing or removing -sz, but in the end, the difference is not that significant :) I'm glad you liked the video! If you are interested in other grammar topics in the Polish language I advise you to visit my website! I'm just finishing articles about nouns declension.I've found out an awesome nouns declension algorithm through all 7 cases. Dziękuję bardzo ! :D I have to write a test in polish language on tuesday! Personally, It helped me a lot to already have learned the russian language for they have similar grammar (very difficult :0) but different vocals etc. I also had a lecture about this phenomenon and slawic languages in general :p it seems like, because poland is more in the west, it is much more "ancient" and original slawic language ..similar to old church slavonic or Ukrainian language ...very interesting! All have in common the roots of words and they have same meanings very often! I never thought f.e. that неделя (nedelja week in russian) derives from to do nothing ...i've just learned it by hard and never thought about it's deeper sense but when my teacher said this in my polish lesson it just made sense and seemed very logical ! :D :D and that this word is used in russian for the whole of the week but in Poland just for the last day ^^ haha, this was mindblowing

Pozdrawiam :)
