Hi. I bought a 10 pack of bare roots that look all black like this plant you showed. Should I assume that those are not viable? They're from VanZyverden walmart bag. I guess I'll just take them back they look dead to me. Most viable strawberry bare roots look a bit tan and look healthy. These are black, mushy I split one open at the crown and it was pink and yellow (wasn't sure if it was rotten).

I planted 20 bare roots and then transplanted them 3 weeks ago. This week 10 were dead. I cut them in half and they were red. I assume mine suffered from the same as video. What is the cause? Last week I put a handful of unused coffee grounds on the mulch. I figured it was heat or the coffee.
