The sheath is fine you over tightened the screw closest to the handle when you repositioned the belt clip. I did the same thing when I got mine. Loosen it a little and it will work great.
@SenecaSerpentКүн бұрын
Nope. I didn't change anything, this was right out of box and you can see the screws as installed by the factory are three holes down not near the mouth of the sheath. Multiple people have now reported the same issue and I've been told ESEE has acknowledged the sheaths being tight to another individual. It's just bad kydex work, some can't even get the blade out at all. Knife Center is doing a full inventory audit. I'm glad yours was that simple though. I'm holding the full video until they respond to my email.
@NZComfort2 күн бұрын
Me too buddy. It’s ridiculous. I have a guy making me a new sheath just for my carry style but I should not have to… Contacted customer service and they said: “ Yes, the sheaths are tight. They will work in. My suggestion would be pushing the sheath with your thumb while you are pulling with your fingers. Similar to a snapping your finger motion. If you can do that around 10-15 times it will work the sheath a little and make it easier to remove the knife from the sheath. Hope this helps.”
@SenecaSerpent2 күн бұрын
I have yet to hear back from ESEE, only Knife Center. "Tight" is an understatement in my opinion. You're at least the third or fourth person that has reached out with the same issue leading me to guess it's a batch problem. They're way too tight to thumb push, at least mine was.
@vinniepeters19362 күн бұрын
That’s a badass knife. But that blade is too small for that price. If it had a five inch blade, it would be worth it.
@SenecaSerpent2 күн бұрын
The main reason for the price is he does everything himself in California using top quality materials and treatment. At $215 it was the most affordable premium American custom you could buy. Prices have gone up some but still decent. A 5" custom of this quality would run ya in the $300-400 range usually depending on tooling. Definitely not cheap though.
@gideonsstuff3 күн бұрын
Yikes! That's ridiculous
@SenecaSerpent3 күн бұрын
Basically all my kydex makers are like "Ooof I was that bad when I was learning but I'd never ship something like that out now that I do it professionally 😬". Knife Center is checking their stock but no word back from ESEE yet.

you have any recommendations for sub $150 primarily 30lb daily rucking that would also work good for EDC/weekender bag (I pack light)
@SenecaSerpent3 күн бұрын
30lbs *should* be ok with these if you have a velcro plate holder or a DIY setup. Chuyen Tactical also has the CT21 which is super comfy. Long as you're doing trail rucking. If you're going Spartan Race style where you're bsrrel rolling through mud and wire these two brands might tear up. CT does offer a 1000D 21L that's tougher but I can't remember if the new model for that has dropped. If you need a bit more room LBT does offer a solid 30L with a belt but it's so-so on the belt comfort. There's a couple more brands as well, some 5.11 will work like the 24 Hour but they are a bit heavier. The Rucker 4.0 does occasionally go on sale, but I don't know if it drops to $150 without codes plus clearance which they don't do much now days.

It's not terrible to fix but for $195 shipped it shouldn't need to be. Just about T. Kell pricing. They definitely need to address it with whomever did their kydex because it's amateur hour. Probably the best route if you plan to keep the blade. The sheath and lack of jimping on the spine made it a no for me right now but it's definitely an interesting evolution of the Izula type knives. Micarta was really well done.

How does the Jones 13 compare to Saddleback's "Thirteener"? Or in general, Nutsac vs Saddleback?
@SenecaSerpent9 күн бұрын
The big difference is Saddlebacks are/were made in Mexico where labor standards and pay are notably lower than here in the US where NutSacs are produced. Saddlebacks designs are also simpler being stacked leather instead of "seamed" like you see here and at least with the Fourteener I've seen they're unlined while these are. Saddleback certainly don't look bad, and I can't knock em since I haven't owned one personally, but on paper they should cost 1/3rd to 1/2 as much as they do.

Does mas grey in real life resemble like a flat dark earth ? Or is it gray ?
@SenecaSerpent2 ай бұрын
It's more a greenish-gray but can look slightly brown in some lights. The closest color would probably be other green-grays like Foliage or some Ranger Greens. Those two prioritize the green pigment, while MAS prioritizes the gray end of that spectrum. MAS and Ranger are both modified versions of Mausgrau from WWII if I remember right. If I get time this coming week I'll take the MAS and Ranger green outside to show how they look compared to some other green/brown bags I have.

GMT conveniently sells on their website, but they can add up quick. If you’re looking to put something like a handgun and a PDW in a bag, you’re looking at significantly more money, but this is certainly in the running for the best way to do it.

I've been using a similar technique while outdoors (I call it the wedge, as I carve a wood wedge, make a cut with the small knife, then baton the wedge through the wood to split it), and now I don't need to carry a big knife, just a compact tough fixed blade and a folding saw. Wood can split wood, if it'has the right geometry ;)
