Hey could I contact you regarding some podcast audio recording tips? I watched your side chaining to remove mic bleed video & I have a few questions about it.

Hey, the links in the description. Do I REALLY need to get the 20mm lens if the G7 already has 14-42mm? The reason I ask is because I'm new to the podcasting scene and I'm not really a tech savvy guy.

It just depends on your setup and how far the camera is going to be from the talent. My cam is mounted right above my monitor and only about 18” away so I changed lenses to match that

I’m a little confused, I’m looking to get into multitrack recording digitally I’ve been doing it analog with tape for a while but what confuses me is in the manual of the xenyx it says that usb out sends a stereo signal ? Not multitrack does someone want to explain this? Is the manual wrong? Because how can you record multitrack if it says it only records stereo in the manual

Excellent walk through. I just ordered one, now that the price is even less than the H4 (under $200!). But to get that price down, lots of accessories no longer come with it. Just the quality sound of the stereo mics alone, on the H4, are worth the price of the whole unit. And I hear the H6 is even better. 👍

Hello; the problem that I saw is with a DAW you obtain only 1 track. I mean; I can record 1 mono track then I open another mono track and is not possible so I cannot record for example a rhythm guitar and then the melody...Thanks
@thepodcastmasters5 ай бұрын
what DAW are you using? you should be able to use both tracks, you would either select x2 Mono tracks or x1 Stereo track
@TheReverb15 ай бұрын
@@thepodcastmasters Hello; I use Nuendo or Cubase. That was the first time using the device as an interface. Happened like I mentioned in the other comment. I can select a mono track and record that track; then I create another track and somehow I cannot record in it so I cannot have a rhy track and a melody track etc

I have tried this yesterday and seems with latest firmware it's a full multitrack recording, no polywav anymore 🎉
@thepodcastmasters5 ай бұрын
I haven't tried new firmware on the RCP 1, but, I know that the RCP v2 and the Mini have a different recording format so there are no Polywavs with those devices

Just to say, this video is very helpful for anyone working with multitrack files from the Boss Gigcaster series as well. I found this video because I was looking for a quicker way to line up several multitrack files (I do hour long livestreams and end up with five or six multitrack wavs that need to be lined up exactly partway through songs) and you just changed my life with that shuffle thing! Thank you.

Outstanding tutorial. Very precise and understandable explanations. Thanks so much. Using the Rodecaster Pro 2, I have been confused that when I'm recording a single voiceover track with all other faders set to zero, why do the all the mic tracks in the polywave file have some signal level bleeding into the unused (i.e. zero level fader) mics tracks? Should i be turning OFF the unused mic tracks on the RCP II?
@thepodcastmasters5 ай бұрын
NOTE that the RCP 2 does not have the same Polywav recording format. It should spit out split single tracks for each input on the board RE: your question, recording on the RCP 2 is going to include all the tracks no matter what; this is by design so that you have a complete raw recording, not including any settings you may have changed during the recording. See this vid for more details on this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpayoJybp9qXqrMsi=oYICJTarpVb3X8lN&t=769

For a podcast, which could give me better sound quality ZOOM H6 or interface type focustire or volt 2?
@thepodcastmasters5 ай бұрын
Depends on the interface, every interface has different internal preamps which have different native gain levels, so you might have cleaner or noisier inputs on an interface. Like I said they're all different, so you'd have to test them. The H6 is great because the inputs are very clean

Hey there! Just watched this video. Good info to know. I am about to purchase the rodecaster-duo. My plan is to route the duo into my apollo x8 and use it as like a submix? If that makes sense... So basically I would have the duo on a stereo track in logic; still using the apollo as my interface. In theory, that should work, right? Is there something I'm missing?
@thepodcastmasters9 ай бұрын
The new RCP and the Duo have better preamps than the v1 with almost twice the gain. You shouldn’t need a preamp or interface with it

Can you do this with Garageband?

I've read on the main site that the option to connect a "track" to an input hasn't been programmed in the software. Soon enough, I will test a few "theories". I believe that each track has an input and output setup in the toolbars, and if you set up a stereo track, you need to have at least one "Stereo" defined input that you can select for it. If you check the list of channels, you should see the word "(mono)" beside one of the channels, and Stereo by another, so that if you select that channel with the track selected, you should get that exact channel, or the mode of that channel, respective to the track. It would seem to be the logical way to connect a track to a channel in C or C++, to build a dropdown with the possible values of the input, and possible values of the output. I haven't tested this yet, but I will try it and get back to you.

@thepodcastmasters9 ай бұрын
That would depend on what audio interface you’re using to record. But if you’re using USB then you don’t need the XLR cable at all. It’s one or the other, not both

Hello Corey, I thought you are the MAN, because I have been trying to find the "fix" for my issue for hours... but when I do what you did, Audacity gives me an error message "Error code -9986 Internal PortAudio Error", instead of showing tracks. I use two XLR mics with Focusrite 2i2 on a Macbook. Hardware is all cool and dandy, it SHOULD work like a charm - but it doesn't. When I open two new tracks, and push the record button, both mics start recording - but both appears in track2. How the hell can I get Audacity to record one mic in track 1 and the second mic on track2. There MUST be a fix to this one, because I remember, I already managed to do this some months ago, i cant remember how. (Since I upgraded to version 3.3.3 - maybe that's the problem...? The old one is sometimes better than the new version, as we learned the hard way with Apple devices...) what do you think cheers

Hello I am Mac user and I own the Rodecaster Pro (I). I am trying to set up OBS so I can capture each Rodecaster source (mic 1, mic 2, mic 3) individually. Can you help? Thanks a lot!!!
@thepodcastmasters9 ай бұрын
I am not sure if OBS will recognize individual ins/outs, I believe you just want to feed it a stereo mix from the rodecaster. You can mix everything on the rodecaster itself

I think I'm having the same problem. When you plugged in the XLR, there's no input that is detected. Do you have any thoughts on how to correct this? Thank you!

Make sure the cable isn’t bad; and check if your mic requires 48V phantom power
@PaulJonesy Жыл бұрын
Nice technique, I wasn’t sure why you need to send the audio to a bus and use the bus as the side chain when the compressor gives you the option to use the original audio? I’ve always used the audio when side chaining - is it because you want any audio fx included?
@thepodcastmasters Жыл бұрын
2 reasons, they didn't use to offer that feature so it's just a habit to use a bus... and, if you need to send more than one audio source into a bus for sidechain, you have to use the bus/send instead of selecting the audio track in the compressor directly
