Fantastic content! I currently work for CM x3 yrs with an insurance company (been a nurse for 14yrs)in a low paying area in Texas. I have been wanting a position in PA or CDI. Do you know if I choose to work for a better paying city within my state if they are willing to hire me? I notice many remote positions still want you to live in the same city in case of an in office monthly meeting etc. My background includes med/surg, PACU, and CM.

I have 6 years experience as a psychiatric nurse. Will this handicap me looking for CDI jobs? Are there CDI psychiatric jobs? I want to make the switch but am apprehensive. Can I get a job with the apprenticeship? Would it be more advantageous to attend CDI bootcamp? Thank you.

I have met nurses who have found remote nursing rewarding. With unethical nurses using jobs within organizations as a way to hook their fellow colleagues up with venerable men...it's a way to escape the sexual harassment that nurses are facing. But technology harassment is becoming common in the remote environment. Not trying to be negative but this could be a realistic way to avoid the sexual harassment nurses face at work. It could reduce the crazed "hired for a harlot" mentality here in Michigan that I know about oh so well.

I’m just about to make the transition from a circulator to a CDI nurse. I’m so excited and nervous. Your video helped and is very informative. My hospital system has career assistance intranetwork who helped me streamline a resume and get me in contact with the manager. That helped a lot! ❤

Not for CDI but for other remote roles, yes. Telephonic triage often offers a 12 hour option.

They definitely aren't easy to find, but we work hard to post URUM roles that don't list it as a requirement, only a preference. CVS has been on a UR hiring spree and several Ferns have been hired into the role from the bedside.

We have an MD on our team who practices in his specialty in our hospital and is our liaison with other providers in the hospital. There are also foreign MDs who work in the CDI role, it just depends on the requirements of the department and company.

It's not the easiest, but if you can get experience doing any type of auditing or chart checks on your unit, that is very helpful to highlight on your resume.

You're welcome! Local acute care hospitals are often easier to transition into, especially if you are willing to do on site for a while. There is a great group on FB called Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists that you may want to join as well.

Just doubt it will pay what I have become accustomed to in Northern California at a major hospital system 25 yrs experience. I’m at a top tier nearly capped out. Very happy with my pay, but would love a remote position.

Valid concern - once you’re at the top of the nursing pay scale finding something near what you make is exponentially harder. I would look local for non-bedside onsite, hybrid, or remote roles. We’ve posted a few in the past with UCSF and a few local health plans. Narrowing your focus to local is more likely to result in a HCOL offer.
