Dear Marc, I assume that the piece was composed by David Kellner. David Kellner was a German composer of the Baroque period and a contemporary of Bach. Several of his BAROQUE LUTE compositions survived. Happy New Year from Vienna.
@MarcFriedlanderClassicGuitar Жыл бұрын
Yes it’s by David Kellner (1670-1748). I’m aware he was a Baroque lute composer. I do have a Baroque lute and I'm working on this piece. It's not easy - love to share when I'm ready. Meanwhile I'll have to play transcriptions.

Hello Marc, what do you think about the Sandi-Lute? Is it a worth to try instrument? How is the fingerboard-action? Thanks!
@MarcFriedlanderClassicGuitar Жыл бұрын
Hey Dirk I think for an entry level instrument it’s fine. If you’re looking to just explore the baroque lute without spending a fortune it’s the way to go. I never got much beyond this Weiss prelude and gravitated back to the classical guitar. The fingerboard-action seem fine. The pegbox and tuning it takes a lot of getting used to but I think it’s a known difficulty about the lute so it’s a standard issue. The construction is adequate- I would say you’re getting what you’re paying for.
@euledj79 Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for you advice! Surely the strings and frets have to be replaced by gut or nylgut-strings ;-)
@MarcFriedlanderClassicGuitar Жыл бұрын
@@euledj79 I use nyglut. Never had to do the frets. It’s not easy to get it up to pitch. Baroque tuning is A=415 not A=440. The strings are designed for lower tension.

I have a similar bubbler. How do you keep debris from getting to the pump? My bird bath is next to my bird feeders and I get so many birds, the bath is full of debris in no time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
@MarcFriedlanderClassicGuitar3 жыл бұрын
Hey Natalie - just regular cleaning is the only way. I don’t even unplug it - just pick up the stone and clear the debris from the pump intake. A few times a week if that much, is all I do.
@reeseb85203 жыл бұрын
@Natalie Greene The manufacturer recommends you not placing the bath near your feeders as you'll get debris. They also suggest putting pea gravel around the fountain to filter debris. Hope this helps you.

Very cool that you perceived the Segovia influence. He is by far my greatest influence - having had all his LPs and growing up at a time when he was KING! I saw him perform first when I was 14 and he was about 70. In Carnegie Hall! I was enthralled. And still am. I (and Bluto) thank you deeply for you comment Doug.

@@gilbert6023 vibrating length is 743mm and 822mm. Yes - rotating my hand in the OPPOSITE direction of Segovia's right hand is what I see lute players do. It took me years to get my hand in that position. Now I have to turn it back again and get my thumb UNDER all that. I am settling on a kind of hybrid technique for both guitar and lute - kind of in the middle of everything. Not too much this way or that way. I still play a lot of guitar too. AND I just got a 7 course Renaissance lute which is like a sleeping baby compared with the 13c Baroque lute.
