Hello Marc, what do you think about the Sandi-Lute? Is it a worth to try instrument? How is the fingerboard-action? Thanks!

Hey Dirk I think for an entry level instrument it’s fine. If you’re looking to just explore the baroque lute without spending a fortune it’s the way to go. I never got much beyond this Weiss prelude and gravitated back to the classical guitar. The fingerboard-action seem fine. The pegbox and tuning it takes a lot of getting used to but I think it’s a known difficulty about the lute so it’s a standard issue. The construction is adequate- I would say you’re getting what you’re paying for.

Thanks a lot for you advice! Surely the strings and frets have to be replaced by gut or nylgut-strings ;-)

@@euledj79 I use nyglut. Never had to do the frets. It’s not easy to get it up to pitch. Baroque tuning is A=415 not A=440. The strings are designed for lower tension.

@@gilbert6023 vibrating length is 743mm and 822mm. Yes - rotating my hand in the OPPOSITE direction of Segovia's right hand is what I see lute players do. It took me years to get my hand in that position. Now I have to turn it back again and get my thumb UNDER all that. I am settling on a kind of hybrid technique for both guitar and lute - kind of in the middle of everything. Not too much this way or that way. I still play a lot of guitar too. AND I just got a 7 course Renaissance lute which is like a sleeping baby compared with the 13c Baroque lute.
