The RCI/Galaxy radios have horrible white noise issues. I would like to hear more about the receiver in this radio vs an old classic with high quality Crystal filters.

I bought one of these from ebay. It needs some tlc.

Those were the illegal cb s for CB ers to brag how many bands they had. With roger berp and echo but it is not ham stuff.

I had a Galaxy 2547, it was a great radio. Only reason I let it go was in trade for a Ranger 2950 mobile...

I remember when RCI first came out with it's 2950. 26 flat to 32 flat at the flip of a jumper. Made for a great BaseStation!

You have my dule band on your desk. Anytone 778. And you're right about the 991A. It only does 40 on AM. But I think thats why people get the ten Metter rigs. I wonder if Icom does better on AM?

I don't know how old you are. But I consider those types of raidios as old school. Reminds me of when I had so much fun as a teenager on the CB. Something nostalgic about a ten Metter rigs.

You should have gotten the president Washington mobile radio it's the same thing as the Washington base radio

$600 plus for JUNK! A uniden \ president Washington In good to nice condition for $125 - $250, will IMO Out perform the 29. Everything offered on the 29 Can be added to a Washington, if you Absolutely need the bells & whistles. I operate A president, Madison, and Keep a Washington for backup. It's been 10 years since I've had The Madison Recapped an aligned and, It's been issue free since If you're going to pay $600 plus for a brand new transceiver, there should be a good amount of Quality control And it's obvious there is none of that Going on at RCI. There are several things that seem to be wrong with this brand new transceiver. I'm not about to list those issues. It's those reasons I called it junk. Of course it's just my option.

I love these old units. I don't remember seeing this one, but it's like finding a Granada in a garage under a cover. You just don't see those anymore. 😂

If you really like the 29 you can always drop in the DDS vfo and completely stabilize any drift plus never have to worry about clarifier range, but...... then the price just went up A LOT

Is it just me or do most of the surface mount radios seem to have an excessive amount of white noise in the recieve? I like these units and kinda wanted one but, a local friend bought one of those exact radios from a well known shop in Florida if that rings a "Bell"... The recieve pot on the board was cranked at 100% and made it a miserable listening experience. Also the trap coils were spread out lie a copper rainbow to make it appear to do more PEP and it would bleed several channels until we addressed the issue.

When Ranger first came out with their RCI2950 I bought one and used it as a base station. I loved that thing! Now I'm old and on a fixed income so the best I can do is watch and drool now. Thanks for sharing!

I had one of these about 35 years ago when I was a kid. I built a home made antenna and I could talk a really long ways with it. Lots of fun on that thing. Mine also reset to channel 19.

Good job. I also got one for free and it does not generate any signal. I assume that it is because the PLL does not lock. The unlock light is always on. Can you tell me what board you had to fix for this issue? They are not numbered the same as in the manual I was about to find (I have an early serial number). If your problem was with the unlock detector, I can see a board that looks like this with led lights on it. Did you have to fix anything other than changing electrolytics on it?

I do have transmit but very high will not modulate any ideas

I have just about the same radio with no modulation on a.m. will transmit on upper and lower sideband radio itself is doing one quarter wt swinging 1

I think magnum was a few years before Stryker, I have 2 magnum delta force, I love the magnum, I really like the s,9 also,to bad we can't get the any more, I like it better than the galaxy 99 ,but they were and still are great, I worked on them in Houston years ago off i- 10 around the key truck stop ,had a lot of good customers there, Dr. Who was my handle 😅😅😅

I have the Dx-2547. My shack is unheated so temperature variation has been an issue, and this exacerbates DX-2547 drift. I was always off frequency. I don't like unlocking the clarifier because then "everyone" gets off frequency, so I fixed the cause. I removed the original crystals, and crystal tuning networks, and replaced them with a thermostatically controlled frequency generator, controlled by a microprocessor. I am #bang on" frequency now. The rig sounds good on the air, and receives well. One of the other commentators said that local received transmissions are distorted. This is true, especially when the Op to 2km away , running 100watts. The DX-2547 receive is very sensitive on SSB. I do not use the internal power supply as it generates too much heat, and Galaxy has provided no way for the heat to easily escape. Sucks! Out the the box, the Galaxy DX 2547 is not really usable. Once it's modified to fix frequency drift it works very well.
