That scenery 🤌👌 Feel like I could definitely plod around for a couple of hours up there. And i love a good canal towpath too. Have to admit, i chuckled when your missus said she wasn't picking you up if you fell off that wall because she wanted to go and eat. I'd probably get the same amount of sympathy from Becky. Loving the content mix mate. Keep it up. 👍

@TheRegularRunner cheers Matt. On a clear day you cant beat it. Wasn't actually that windy either only at the wind turbines at the peak. Which is probably why they have been put there 😆👌 That was a new route neither of us had done before. Helped clear my head aswell. "The pennines... a gift that keeps giving" hold that thought. I've got a ready made title for part 2 🤣

Love the look of them trails! 👌🤌 A lot of really useful information there mate, and it's good to hear that the things that you did to avoid injury are the same things im now doing to also try and avoid injury. Fingers crossed I get the same result. 🤞 Another tip with shoes is when you find a pair that works for you, wait until the end of year sales and shop around. I have second pairs of all my shoes that I got in the sales waiting and ready to go. Sure, by the time i use them they wont be the newest version, but if they work for me then who cares. My backup pair of carbons cost me about £70 instead of over £200 (i didnt pay full price for the other pair of carbons either though). With the wind noise, lookup 'windslayer'. Its a foam cover that can go round your camera. Theyre made for people who mount cameras on motorbike helmets really. Theyre not perfect, but do help a lot and are fairly cheap and light. Im still working out how to carry mine when ive got my hydration pack as i dont want to risk tearing it putting the camera in my pocket but i do already use it for parkruns. They do different version for all the major cameras. 👍
@whereweoffDAD3 күн бұрын
@TheRegularRunner thanks again Matt. That's very good tip. I think if a shoe works it works. We don't always need to get the latest pair but then they sell the dream to us.. that's the way it works 😆 Also thanks for the tip on the cover for the wind. I wasn't aware what it was like until I reviewed the footage and I am not going back out for a second take.. its a real person chanel and wind is a real thing 🤣 I will probably get a cover tho so I can be heard clearly. As for the tips. It's just stuff that works for me. I've suggested some stuff to permanently injured runners and they think zone 2 is a load of crap so each to there own. I've learnt the hard way and didn't listen or pay attention either so 🤷. I think longevity is more important than a goal for me given the time off injured. Being able to run in itself is a joy. Getting PBs and faster is just another way to enjoy it but it's not everything. I hope your able to manage your injuries going forward. I'd rather my progress be slow but injury free than build on a wobbly foundation that is going to collapse as it has done time and time again over the years. . If you've not done watergrove yet that could be a good get together. I could get my wind breaker case and we could try it out on the pennine tops 😆
@TheRegularRunner3 күн бұрын
@@whereweoffDAD That's not a bad shout mate. I've never run up at watergrove. The parkrun I believe is my second closest after Clarence and just haven't got there yet. We were gonna go a couple of months ago but we had some illness and injuries in the group and it never came off. From what I've seen the scenery is epic on a clear day.

I've not tried the head mount but I'd guess the GoPro is slightly too heavy for it. I think the chest strap works well but prefer just keeping the GoPro in a pocket on runs to get out when I see fit. Keep up the good work on the channel.. and vlogging about the things you enjoy!
@whereweoffDAD12 күн бұрын
@sambassett5 It was. Mine has a case around it aswell. It wouldn't have been so bad with just the go pro. May try again without case. Chest mount looked OK the first rep but then bounced about after that 🤔 worth trying out for a tenner... The handle is probably the best bet. I'd struggle with the go pro loose in my pocket and then trying to hold it with arm extention. I certainly will do mate. Make stuff I feel inspired to do and then I enjoy it .. thanks for watching 📹👍

Looked a good session mate! I think at this stage of a block it's probably not a big problem if you dont quite hit the reps you hope for as theres plenty of time to work on that. Headstraps are a very fickle thing. I've had to try a couple before settling on the insta360 one, but even then they do still make you look daft. I've just decided to take no notice of what everyone else thinks 😂 and I dont think mine word work over a beanie hat either. Good luck with the training mate. And the beard is 👌

@TheRegularRunner Thanks mate. looking at the GAP pace after i was actually on target if it was on a flat but it was bumpy as you will know. A few other factors aswell may have played a part. Not too concerned at this point. Have to trust the process. Yes I think the way I fitted it and wearing the case added weight and I could feel it bouncing on my head plus my head got really hot. I wouldn't be as bothered about how I looked if it was a bit more discreet or at a parkrun. The park just had walkers and I felt a bit overdressed for a jog round the park 🤔🤣 trainings going well tho. Thanks again mate

@TheRunningWhale thanks for watching and you won't believe this...but its not the first time I've been made to eat my words. I was an outspoken anti treadmiller until my recent training block and I have been converted to the many benefits especially given the recent weather 🥴... also my watch was still recording in ks for some runs and I've got used to the splits I need to hit in training and like them being more frequent than the mile splits so once again I have been made to eat my words in recent weeks 🤣... anyway thanks for watching. Well done both of you. Tal made the right choice if she was suffering as theres always a next time. And your 400m pace was flying! I haven't done an all out 400m for a while but i reckon I might just scrape 80 seconds or so. That's a bit of a guess though to be honest. I've never been to the springfield track but I have looked at it a few times. It's not far from us so I might have to go and check it out. Looking forward to seeing what you've got planned mate, and good look with the training!
@whereweoffDAD22 күн бұрын
@TheRegularRunner yes she wasn't right. We may of got away with an easier run but she wanted to give the track a go and was excited to get out but she was feeling it on the first rep so we cut it short for the day. we will get out again when she's 100% the weather's better so we can dig in and get some proper times. Yes mate just give it a go. Not a distance I'd usually go all out for but the quicker we do them shorter reps the quicker our top end will become 🤔. The tracks are bit muddy and rugged at the best of times. Am sure the one at bury is much better condition. Thanks again mate 👍
@TheRegularRunner22 күн бұрын
@whereweoffDAD Yeah the artificial tracks are great but I sometimes think they can do too much of the work for you. Great for a time trial effort but maybe it would be leaving something on the table for a training session where you could challenge yourself a little with less even ground or less perfect traction. Hopefully Tal is better soon and can put that TT effort in again. She's got loads of potential.

Nice one mate. That was a class effort from tal. She just switched on the pac out of nowhere after the easy first lap and held it right to the end. Running the 3rd km at 5:32 is really impressive and she was still going really strong at the end dropping that 4:15 km at the end. 🔥 She should be really proud of that. I reckon shes got more to give on a flat course than her alex park time from the other week. 🤔 Top video mate. And great to catch you at the end. 👊
@whereweoffDAD28 күн бұрын
@TheRegularRunner @TheRegularRunner thanks as ever mate. Yeh I think your right!!! I am just going to let her run as she wishes the next time we do one. I think that's the second time I've held her back as she had it in her head beforehand to beat her PB but I advised to take this one easy after Alexandra. When we got the green light to go she shifted through the gears and the final km on flat tells me that an evenly paced run at Heaton Park could be sub 25 🤔.. (using the all out km add 20 sec per km for your 5k time method possibly quicker) be the last one for a bit but we're gunna keep training and i think try Stretford for a full send when we get a free Saturday 🤔....happy parkrunning today mate 🙌

So glad this video popped up in my feed... I'm in my late-40s and 'discovered' running a year ago and have been keen to get my 7yr old daughter involved at some stage as I think it could do her wonders. I am mindful though there's a fine line between encouragement and pressure so any tips you've got based on your own experiences would be most welcome! I figured I'd start with Junior Parkruns (or perhaps just going out by ourselves as that'd be even less pressure) and I expect it could be beneficial to wait until the warmer months begin to arrive so we're not battling dark mornings and poor weather! Thanks again for sharing, and a massive well done to Tal but also yourself for the great support you gave her.
@whereweoffDADАй бұрын
@mathewnewton3499 thank you for your kind words and watching the video. All children are different but she's always had a lot of energy. I think my naivety and over enthusiasm pushed her a little too hard in the beginning. Her first ever run was a 5k parkrun with me and whilst we took it easy I probably tried to push her too hard too soon. She still came most weeks and clocked up over 20 runs in the first year. Looking back She was tiny and that is a massive distance for a child under 10. In hindsight I'd have worked towards junior parkruns and done shorter stuff. She would have kept going had covid not stopped the running for a while as we did the last one at Heaton Park just before lock down. So I'd say no pressure. Keep it fun, don't expect too much and allow her to develop at her own rate. Walk / run to begin with regular breaks and offer plenty of encouragement. I pushed a little too hard when I saw potential and maybe put her off for a bit. All the best with both your running journeys 🙌

@whereweoffDAD That's amazing of you to offer. Thank you! I'll definitely bear it in mind. I know exactly what you mean though. I've allowed myself to get sucked into chasing times before now, but I was doing it all wrong and was racing too much and never focussing properly. This year im aiming for fewer races with better quality in my training, and that will allow me to spend some time just getting out and enjoying running for the sakes of it. I reckon that in the process ill also make better progress. I have managed to pace at parkrun a couple of times before now and also helped a couple of people to PBs in a couple of my B races last year. It always feels good to help out and see someone achieve their targets. 🎉
