I totally agree that you should use technique on a kilter board. If you want to train without technique just use a hangboard or something

This is the Sandhills site and I've been climbing here for over a year. Great place, and I can honestly say that every member of staff, without exception is nice, helpful and friendly.

I always wonder why people don’t trying harder grade. I tried V6-V8 color on the second month. Why not if it looks fun? Can’t do it at least you understand what you need to improve.

The biggest game changer for me in the past years was actually changing my mindset. I just don't approach boulders with a "this looks hard - I don't like these holds - I cannot make it anyways - I hope I do it, otherwise I feel embarassed..." anymore. Instead I see "too hard" boulders as a great challenge and opportunity to get used to hard moves. I also started enjoying small improvements instead of just seeing topped boulders as a win. I mean, what have you achieved when topping a boulder that is in your comfort zone? Jerry Moffatt's "Mastermind" was a good lecture, I can only recommend reading it.

"Commit 100% to each move" is definitely climbing advice from & for the under-30 age bracket. 😂😂 I wanna climb more than one time this week, thanks.

Kilter board is my favourite training tool. I'm a lead climber and I always lacked some proper power to generate a hard move. I spent a whole month to train only on Kilter board. At beginning I was dying on 6A+/6B problems and couldn't do any 6B+. After 10 sessions on board I not only did my first two 6Cs (!) but I flashed them :) Dynamic moves are not a problem anymore (I'm short), I can jump to another hold (I'm not afraid of it now), the strenght of my fingers was always really high but now I'm okay with hard dynamic moves to really small crimps. And my body tension got better. Thank you Alex for this video, hope there will be another one with you on Kilter board :D

Pretty crazy that you cannot make a schedule without boulders being set in the background.

I mostly agree (at the end of the day we are non-elite climbers who can afford not to be good at every style;)) That being said, I think getting better at other styles that are not naturally your own opens the possibility of enjoying many more boulders, so I think it's all about striking a balance =)

USA climbing as a youth destroyed my mental health. Now I am recovering my love for the sport and getting stronger for myself, not for others when I can never be good enough. Keep fighting, you all =)
