I have the Ganzo 729 in grey just for a few weeks now. I am very impressed and would not even look for an Spyderco. The Ganzo may be even better built today in 2024 (8 years later of this video). I dispatched my dog with the Ganzo 729 with a stab between the ribs (snake bite probably) and the animal was dead in 15 seconds. It was a small dog. That blade went in as butter. I was so impressed I decided to make this as my EDC and defensive knife as guns and ammo are here ever more restricted and forbidden. So I ordered 5 more. These cost today 2024 around 24$ but I struck a dead with the amazon seller for 20$ each when I take 5. I made this PM2 style now as my main defensive weapon and watched some Kali videos on YT about basic movements in an defensive situation. There are basicall 3 types of stabbing and slashes a few one as well easy to remember and practice. Slashes in form of an X, -, + and |, so basically cross, vertical, horizontal slashes. And stabs like the quick stab, swing stab and classical stab. Thats basically it about Kali defensive methods. Considered these are the most practical. The leaf shape blade is a slicer and excellent stabber but watch the rather delicate tip. Eighter the Military 2 (came out recently in compression lock and 4" blade) or the PM2 and all its clones will be excellent defensive weapons in an pinch. Both are a bit short to reach really important organs so as the lung stab, but they will do already the job. Specially I was impressed how easily the blade went into the dog till the ricasso. There was an engineer behind the design of the Military and Paramilitary 2 blades design.The Axis lock is an trade name of Benchmade who bought the design from McHenry-Williams. The name "Axis" is still a trademark but the lock itself its patent expired already long time ago. So anyone can use the axis lock but not call it like that. Thus Ganzo calls it the "G-lock". There is no real difference between the original McHenry-Williams lock except the Omega springs may be upwards instead of downwards installed. Thats about of different as it gets. These Axis locks are all the same original design which is by far one of the best locks ever. Compression locks can develop up and down blade play bit axis locks basically not. Thats an huge advantage. Liner and frame locks are famous to chew themselves through to the other side (I had some knives doing that already including an Gerber). There is now 2024 another chinese tool company called DuraTech who make similar knives as well with an axis lock but they do not clones but their model is an 3.5" drop point in 8Cr13MoV, G10 for 16$. I ordered 2 of them as well and if they turn out well I will order them more. 8Cr13MoV is basically AUS-8 and DuraTech says they harden the knife between 55 and 60 HRC.

Stumbled upon 2 of these online and bought them for $20. They are still new. Threw a new nitecore in there, some nyogel on the threads, and was off to the races. Always cool to come across an obscure brand from years gone by. I may tape off the sides and spray rubberizer tool coating on the middle. It'll cover up the labeling but thats nit an issue. Just hit it with a sander bit on the dremel, a primer coat and then the rubberizer.

Have multiple versions of the real ones. The Carbon fiber is way different. Stop studs don't come to a small point. Always the first red flag on a clone is the satin blade. There are always horizontal waves in clones. "Cheap Steel"

Nice, I am a Spyderco guy myself and recently discovered the Stretch. This video is now 7 years old, but I got one 2 months ago with k390 steel, and I love it, I loved it so much I didn't want to use it. So I went online and found one in VG10 to use on sale for 67.99$ on Amazon Japan. I have to wait 2 total weeks for delivery, but it's well worth it for that price in 2024. I paid 149.99$ for my k390 model on sale, and it's already went up to 169$ on BladeHQ. So I'm glad I decided to put that one back, I may buy another to put in my rotation with the VG10 model, who knows . The G10 scale models now run 349.99$, so I haven't been able to afford one yet, but I'll have it one day.

I’d say go with the clone because it comes with the Tek-Lok and the original doesn’t. Even if you have to get the clone sharpened, you’ll still save some money.

Used this knife this year on moose quartering . He loaned this to me I liked it so much I bought myself one …….but be careful it’s sharp and don’t man handle it on game the blade will snap. It will be in my pack next year moose hunting !

Gerber makes a terrific everyday knife. I have several. Good steel, smooth action, well finished. Sharp!

Great sauce, but check the expiration date, they will stock expired sauce. That attention to detail makes me wonder how they pay attention to to the base ingredients.

Great review. I had a Firebird F7531 back in 2021. I paid no attention to it and when a friend asked for a knife, I gave him that. Last month (March 2023), a bunch of new Ganzos arrived at the shop. One of the models I bought was a G7531-BK. Again, I just kept it in my closet and paid no attention to it. I preferred the FB and FH models. I even forgot I bought one. This morning, I went to another branch of the shop I hang out in and I saw a G753. I thought of getting it and then I remembered I had one. I came home, took mine out. You know what? I'm now wondering how I could have just ignored this knife. I love the size, comfort, attention to detail, everything. In terms of ergonomics, it doesn't get much better than this. The blade is great. A pointy tip for piercing and a lot of belly for slicing. I seem to remember putting a couple of drops of Frog Lube on either side of the pivot when I bought this. Action is great. Seriously, what's not to like about this knife? Nothing. Can be used for urban edc, can be used outdoors and it can even be a great tactical/self-defense knife since the blade design is based on the Protech TR5.

I got a Microtech Halo clean for $45 from Wish and let me tell you that things is exactly like my friend real one accept the steel is AUS 8. I’m so impressed. It’s mind blowing how it’s only $45. Wish has some amazing clones. You can buy a Bugout on there for $12 and they’re actually really nice.

@wavester64 I have this same case. And I just purchased my second one. I will give you a tip…all of my knives have lanyards and lanyard beads on them and I makes it super easy to retrieve each knife from the slots. Just my 2 cents.
