Nice reaction. Babymetal showing they will not be placed in anyone's box. The metal they do is just that, the metal they do. AKA Kawaii Metal. And here we have the mature version of that. Su and Moa showing they have grown up right in front of our eyes. meaningful performance. Their live shows are an experience of fond memories for a lifetime.

One of their most beautiful performances. Along with Starlight and Arkadia, Shine is part of what is known as the "Trilogy of Lights". Based on the lyrics and the symbolism used in the live performances, it's believed that the Trilogy is a tribute to Babymetal's long time guitarist Mikio Fujioka, who passed away in January 2018 after an accident while stargazing, and possibly also to Yuimetal, whose departure from Babymetal was announced on the same day that Starlight was released. It's never been officially stated one way or the other, but fans believe that's what it means.

Nice one, thanks! Ah, the classic BABYMETAL beginner error: "this is my new favorite...", "this is the best ever..." welcome to the club! (or to The ONE). 😁 "Shine" is one of my favorite songs and it's special because it's way outside my alley musically. But I still consider this one of Su-metal's finest works as a vocalist. As you already know this is part of the Trilogy of Lights alongside "Starlight" and "Arkadia" which is my favorite song. The trilogy is about the stages of grief being "Shine" about the intermediate ones: bargaining and depression also known as the inflection point. 🤘🦊

Another wonderful reaction. This is the second song in the Trilogy of Lights. I don't know if there's any real debate about this but what I've heard is this was tribute to guitarist Mikio Fujioka who passed away in 2018. I've also heard that the guitar Moa is strumming is either one of Mikio's guitars or a replica of one of his. Whatever it is a beautiful extremely emotional song. It was touching watching the emotions at play on your face as the song played.

Welcome back to the Foxhole 🦊🤘🔥 Whoever suggested Shine without giving you the context is doing it wrong, since Shine is part of the official Trilogy Of Lights, a set of songs to represent the ongoing cycle of birth, death and rebirth, those songs are: Starlight, Shine, and Arkadia, and you should have experienced this from the start. Same goes for The One and Tale Of The Destinies, both songs are tied together and from previous album Metal Resistance, another set you should definitely need to experience, especially the live at Tokyo Dome 2016, which was the only time they performed live Tales Of The Destinies, you can find many live versions of The One although the official MV is live footage with studio album sound, worth to check it out either way, that'll be a perfect set to understand later the context of this trilogy from 2019. This live compilation got footage from shows at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020 as well Legend M 2019 when Moa and Su performed without a third member, it's something more intimate and beautiful with Moa playing the acoustic guitar, she does know how to play some notes. If you wanna enjoy the rest of these songs you can watch the live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020 version, they played those songs at Budokan 2021 and more recently at Legend MM during MomoMetal's 21 birthday but again without Shine, only Starlight and Arkadia, that's how you know this song is special. In October BM will be performing at Knotfest Brazil, Argentina and Chile for the first time in South America, also Peru with a headlining show and coming back to Mexico for the second time but now as special guests for Slipknot, we can't wait for this upcoming tour. Anyway keep enjoying more BM songs and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥

Thank you so much for the detailed context! I had no idea about the Trilogy Of Lights and its significance in the Babymetal lore. It really adds a deeper layer to the experience of their music. I'll definitely check out Starlight, Arkadia, and the live performances you mentioned, especially the Tokyo Dome 2016 set. I'm curious about the storyline and themes of The One and Tale Of The Destinies. Could you share more insights into these songs and how they tie into the overall narrative of Metal Resistance? I'm excited to hear about their upcoming tour in South America and Mexico. It's amazing how their music resonates worldwide. I'll make sure to catch more of their live performances. Great reaction. I knew right from seeing a short clip from a very shaky fancam that 'Shine' would be among my own favourite songs. Is it the best? That is very subjective, I think virtually every one of their songs is somebody's favourite .... but it must be up there. As mentioned in the comments below, 'Shine' is the second song in the Trilogy of Lights, the final three songs from the Metal Galaxy album, so it does stand to reason you should watch 'Starlight' and 'Arkadia'. @Ganimal83 has explained the significance and meaning of the Trilogy as well as the popular belief held by most (but not all) of the fans and Hymnodic has left links for you.

Hell yeah man! This song is also amazing. It is the 2nd song of the Trilogy of Lights (Starlight, Shine, Arkadia). Representing anger/grief (Starlight), acceptance/moving forward (Shine), and a call to action to move towards a hopeful future (Arkadia). Many fans believe this trilogy (at least Starlight and Shine) to be an unofficial tribute to the untimely passing of Babymetal's Kami band guitarist Mikio Fujioka (RIP Jan 2018). Very evident in Shine with the guitar center piece, and the lyrics! Now you gotta do Starlight and Arkadia! 🤘🦊

While I've watched Magie climb from an initial 6, when I first heard it, to a 7 and now an 8 (taken from a recent survey of my cerebral musical cortex ;-), I always appreciate the execution, sound and, once again, performance of all their songs... even starting with "Made In Japan," released in 2014 when I first became entranced with the Magical Maids. @@reylynx Thx, Rey! Off the top of my head, I'd say Sense, Start Over, Wonderland, Endless Story (especially their latest Yokohama version), Why Why Why, and Hate are a few that went from 6-7's to 8-10's. But nearly all Band-Maid songs grow on you over more listens. Probably because the complexity makes them a little hard to pick up right away, but great for repeat listens.
