That Batmobile is so awesome!!! Max is so lucky!!! Kang the Conqueror is still a part of the Marvel multiverse and part of the MCU. Since Kang would have multiple instances of himself, the character can return even if it’s not the same actor. Another awesome figure. I love watching you & Max interact Chris. Great video as always! Blaming funko for this makes little sense. Yes funko was a major contract of theirs but if your business relies entirely on one client its a questionable business. Overall this is sad to hear but overall not a big deal either way.

This change is an immediate no for me. The better option would should have been like a discogs model. They should allow people to be buy and sell collectables via the site and take a small percentage of the sale or a flat fee. This will move is going to turn off alot of people and maybe a move to the end of hobbydb.

PPG is just for making profit, but I am getting out the hobby since Funko is making way too many decisions that are good for them but bad for the exclusivity of the collectible. So I am just going to refer back to my purchase history and at least break even.

To be honest I track my collection on 3 different apps. I use the Funko App, Hobby DB and (because im UK based) The Pop Directory. Non of them are accurate for prices in the slightest. The reason i use all 3 is habbit more than anything. The Pop Directory was good as it has UK sold prices (which can be very different from US as of course differnt things can be more popular depending on country) but they have become so lax with updating it. They do seem to add new pops to the App now but so many go unpriced (I have a 1500 pop collection and over 200 of them have no price) so if newer pops arn't being updated with some sort of value I can only assume the older ones dont either. I really just use it for myself to check what I have as with a large collection you can forget when out and about (luckily have only Dup bought twice in the whole time I have been collecting) and because I have an apple device and The Pop Dirctory isnt availble on my phone I use Funko App or Hobby DB to check when Im shopping in stores. The problem with the prices is its far too easy to manipulate and no amount of volunteers are going to catch eveything no matter how hard they try. Checking eBay sold is the best option but of course if you want to an overall view of a large colection thats not really an option. But again its can't be really accurate with people seeling in so many places that isn't eBay they can only be accurate to a certain point anyway.

I rarely use it so ill decide if I want to pay but I've been a collector for years and I know most of my collector stores and they use it to make there business in the store or on whatnot so I'm pretty sure they will have to pay they need it more then me.

Comic books, trading cards are also huge collector base, sports memorabilia. Hobby DB will still be free you just cant track your collection for free. I would pay just to have the adds go away from my collection tracker

The app started crashing after the pandemic rush. They asked for investors about 2 years ago which got them this far. Now they are begging to stay afloat.

Here’s my problem with this. Last I knew most if not all the logging for sales were done by volunteers who wanted to contribute to the community and their own collection values to keep them up to date. There are some things I had in my collection that weren’t updated in the YEARS that I owned the items. They don’t have some revolutionary technology that’s updating the site everyday grabbing from the API of marketplaces (eBay Mercari) to provide reliable and accurate values. They depend on the community to do the work and now they’re trying to profit off it. It would be one thing if they needed the money to keep the lights on but when you have people doing free labor and now you’re attaching a premium to it for the sole intent of making a profit then there’s a problem.

the model is based off volunteer work, why wasnt just the marketplace monetized ? it would have solved the flippers and scammers issue. best of luck to them.

Giggles and grins, I have an item in my collection on PPG that has maintained a value of $410 for at least the last 5 years. According to PPG there has not been a sale in 2 years. Just checked Ebay and in the last 4 months there have been sales of $375 and $500, which should make the average value $435. They're not keeping up with prices so why pay for any type of service?

The reason Funko would give you the chance to cancel is that since folks thought "Well I didn't get one of those, guess I'll buy a box from Boom Loot. Now they've spent the money they had and Funko now is going to charge them the money for the one they really DID win this they now will be one drawn in their bank/credit account.

So, if you pay, will it be “ad free”?

I am more disappointed that the fact that every sale is being recorded and not taking account condition which is tanking values because someone sold a smashed up funko for Pennies and that is why a lot of people stopped collecting and are selling off with this and the changes with funko

Today is my 2nd anniversary of my KZbin channel

They did give a month's notice. I went premium on Aug 11th. I use hobbydb for not only Funko, but also for Figpin, comic books, Hot Toys, and other collectibles. I get why people are upset if you only use it for 1 type of collectible. I love being able to check on all my collections in one space besides the basement! 😄I actually saw a KZbin video with Christian yesterday done by Slapshotpops. It was very thorough. Check it out before your interview on Sunday so you can flesh out more info from him. Great video as always!
