I think it's an interesting conversation. We actually ended up thinking Node > Guild. The arguments for Guild are that you want your guild grouped together for voting or events like Node Wars and Sieges. However, I think a lot of the conversation is player-focused more so than Guild-focused. Especially on the artisan side. If you need to be an alchemist and another guild member needs to do animal husbandry, the players are more likely going to want to be in the Node that benefits them most primarily with storage and other aspects. So while right now where the map is small, you can argue that having the guild in one node and travelling for their artisanship is probably better for the group, I think in the long-term the node system will win out over guilds. It will become the topic of which Vassaled Node Group are we as a guild going to and less of a which Node are we going to?

Guilds currently are in such a rough, meaningless state, that it is hard to compare them. I am glad they will be improving that experience soon, but it is not soon enough. #Warborn

If we get an incentive system for defending caravans.. then I also want to be able to deny people from joining the defense of my caravan. Just for when like I have a crew and I just don't want the randos around.

*The solution is even easier than that.* *Blue Level, Commission Board Caravan Defense quest.* *Up at all times, but alternates between Lionhold and Samia's Hope.* *Even easier, Clicking Defend automatically gives you the Caravan Defend Quest.*

Yeah, making you go to Lionhold or SH is a deal breaker. I already hate having to go to my home node to re-pickup commissions, and I am already in town at least once a day. It being an automatic quest accept when you... accept the defend quest, lol... would make a ton of sense and dramatically increase the chance people actually help defend.

Mages have huge utility, wdym? They can give their element to another player and can trigger every elemental combo/debuff.

If I get 2years for $120 is easy buy, some people even believe its3+ years out still. Ton of game time for $120 in my opinion, but I respect that$120 is a lot of money in today’s inflated economy.

When a random low level defends my caravan I usually give them 10-20s just to encourage that behavior. But we definitely need some intrinsic reward for defenders.

I think you guys misunderstood the crafting/adventuring question. The concern is, for example, by the time an Armor Smith can craft level 10 gear, the vast majority of the community is already level 20 making crafting not feel impactful to the community. I'm fine not being max level if I focus on crafting but I would like to be useful to my guildmates who are max level by providing them with great gear. I worry, for instance, that artisans will not have any impact in the event of a node siege.

Yeah, the node is the real throttling force in the game right now, and is an artificially heavy handed one currently. Imagine if you could not get past level ten (combat level) until your node reached tier 3 and you donated 3000 blue swords and 9000 occular eyes or something as similarly stupid...

The incentive for defenders is the glint multiplier. Caravans are not PvE gold funnels.

Something similar to a train service may be solid or some kind of equivalent. Predictable drop off points on its path. Fee's based on the entry location. Maintenance materials for tracks and transportation maybe. This wouldn't be too used for urgency but may be solid for a travel across the map while making dinner or something.

Fast travel will kill the economy and also get double whammed with Chinese gold farmers/sellers. No thank you. And if you need to move a lot of goods from one town to another then caravans should be the way to do it, either by yourself or hire someone's service based on you are trusting them to deliver your goods. Lots of fun stuff by doing things this way, also creates real danger of getting robbed a long the way. 😏😏

I havent even thought about the caravan system in the context of having the full map, cross continent trade runs will not be a thing unless they speed it up massively

At best, I could see an offline travel system between caravan buildings. Something like up to 6 hours between some of the furthest locations. So you can plan what your character does over night or while at work/school.

Nah, then you must use players to transport it for you, this makes a player based economy. Letting things just automatically transport from A to B would kill the game.

Imagine once the game is fully released and taking a caravan from a south western node to a north eastern node assuming you have to go directly to it and cant cheat by going off the map to the west and appear on the map to the east. Or going from north to south on the same continent. The pay out will be huge but thats like a 4-8+ hour trip not including potential caravan attacker threats if they dont buff caravan speed, make master/grandmaster caravan parts extremely efficient or make caravan ships (not the raft conversion) very fast

no fast travel === stay neeche, no casuals === no game, ez equation. you might want to look at fractured online where they already solved this problem by getting a 24h cd fast travel through hardcore grind

Distance will be a meta for this game. You must choose where you want to engage. Parties will war but distance will be a natural buffer that will have to be thoughtfully prepared for

Godspeed to the 'Stache master. I really like the idea of NO fast travel. Currently on Vyra, there is a very different reality between New Aela vs Winstead or Mira. Yeah, you HEAR about issues on the other side of this ONE biome, but it does not impact you. I can only imagine what happens when they spread things out. It will make the servers more world like.

I know this is an old video but just to help anyone that might see this. The game does not have experience "loss". It has experience debt. You cannot lose a level from death. It just makes it take a little longer to get to the next level. Very important distinction.

I agree that they need to come down hard on exploiters and set the tone....they also need to correct the mechanics that allow it. If the game's mechanics allow something, people are going to do it.

adding my bit to those taxi suggestions, Steven on his recent stream said there will be mounts AND vehicles(!) for multiple players idk how much of that is only for siege purposes or node wars or how limited it will be but with that system they could expand on and there could be a taxi kind of sercice, perhaps call it merchant route like a caravan? I dont know but I think it's possible

I think adding a carriage/ferry addition to the caravan system is a really good idea. I think players would both want to pay and to be paid for travel. Especially once more biomes and the ocean is unlocked. They would have to be faster than a caravan of course. I would definitely want it to be organized and driven by players, but it would be nice to have a system in game to guarantee passage, payment, etc.

Steven is right. Copper is being mined, all of it. But there just isn’t enough. Both things can be true at the same time. A casual cannot craft in this current state of the game.

Regarding "Paladin", it sounds like he played a "holy paladin" in WoW. I played a Protection Paladin, and a tank that has some sort of passive healing ability is perfect to me.

It will actually feel like a world, for once. You will know your areas, and have a vague idea of the areas that you hear about and/or visit occasionally, but it will definitely FEEL like a diverse world, and that will be so nice compared to current MMOs.

Phase 2 I thought started on the 20th... Where you getting 5th? Lol Just starting the video, looking forward to it! EDIT: 43:30 Eve Online is a great example of the toxicity that open PvP type games can generate. When I played there was groups in "safe space" high sec that would all alpha someone in a hauler and loot them. I enjoyed Eve but it was a thing.

Vyra phase 1 vs phase 2 is a wild difference. Although to be fair, that might just be because all the douchebag guilds that were spread out are now all concentrated in one server.

I honestly wish developers in all gaming genres would keep lists of guilds and players. Epherium, POLAR, Nova, Enveus have been exploiters and just filled with toxic trash in EVERY. SINGLE. MMORPG. Of course it isnt every player, but the leadership PUSHES this culture. Just stop them immediately.
