Agree entirely. Lezyne are at the top end price wise and this may fool people that the quality is higher. The flexible hose system has benefits in that it won't bend the valves, but the tension when you unscrew a flexible hose is too much for me. I've had similar experiences in unscrewing the valve core when out on the road and have abandoned the flexible hose system for good.

Its just a pump? Agree with all the experience comments below. From a hand pump experience , they are not bad! and good for size . Only to get you home. If your running carbon dish wheels , use a gassie to get the tires to sit straight, again only to get you home, CO2 air must be removed and re inflated when home (always leaks out) . Re Lezyne . EVERY Lezyne product falls to shite , from bags (zips) to lights. Every Lezyne floor pump over 5 years old , mine including - gages fails - Useless for determining correct pressure put in.

Do they store it in the plane horizontally or vertically?.., If they put it horizontally, does the bike’s fork get damaged?

I have a tubolito tube and when I tried to pump it for the first time with the lezyne pump, by removing the pump and accidentially pressing this little button, the valve came off the tube with a loud bang and the tube was ruined. And I even watched your video before ! 😤

Thanks for the post. Like others here, I have used many pumps (a few Lezyne) and find this one as good as any. Yes, I have accidentally removed my valve core and seen others do this on club rides quite a few times so understand the frustration. I always carry a tiny valve core tightener with me as it weighs next to nothing and use it first on a new tube before pumping and am extra careful when removing the hose, keeping it straight. Just my experience!

Recently purchased but have just sent mine back. Tried it at home on two different sets of wheels with Presta valves and got different results. Worked perfectly on one wheelset but removed the valve core on the other. Used all the methods suggested on here but couldn't remove the hose without it removing the valve core as well so didn't give me any confidence to trust it on the roadside.

While using my Lezyne HV Drive, presta core detached multiple times. But I hate this pump mostly due to bad ergonomic: it is uncomfortable to hold in your hands, poorly processed plastic bites into your palms and so on. It seems that the design engineers at Lezyne do not use their products themselves.

I had to look for a video about this because I was frankly getting annoyed with this pump for the same exact reason. It happened (again) to me during a gravel race a few weeks ago.

Definitely had this experience also. Dropped pressures to get through a greasy uphill couple km knowing I could pump back up once hitting the road at the top. In the dark and a deadline to get home 4x failed attempts later with this pump I rode the remaining 10 or so km on less than favourable psi. Cornering was sketchy on the first surprise sharp bend. Failing of mine were: -Pathfinder fast rolling gravel tyres lack in the traction department -Time pressed -Failing light and failing torch battery -No practice AT ALL with this pump before maiden voyage! Some comments above have been much more helpful than the instructions included with this pump. Tightening the valve core, grease on the inner O-ring and graphite on the inner thread will be my next step in order to keep this pump on the bike as from other comments: it is in fact actually a pretty decent pump. Compact Size is a massive factor to keeping this pump and getting more comfortable using it. Threadlock! I don't think anyone's mentioned it. I've had the same issue with the same frustration. But if you put some blue thread lock on your valve cores and do them up snug you shouldn't have any issues. However, it does seem like a faff compared to using something like the excellent zefal hpx. BUT the pressure drive is excellent for the size X speed of pumping and has both valve types.

Which size would you get with 190 cm height? Will the 60 cm work or will it be too small. Will the brakes Work for heavier Riders and bikepacking

Easiest solution to this apart from tightening the valve cores properly is get some cheap a*s decathlon inner tubes from Decathlon. They have fixed valve cores. It only happened to me once, after that I made sure the valve is tight.

Exact same thing happened to me while out on a qualifying ride for an event. Sat defeated on the ground for an hr unril someone came along with a different pump. This this is useless. Why should i have to use loctite to glue my value tight. Stupid design

It's important to keep the hose straight when unscrewing, if it is pulling sideways it can lean on the core and unscrew it. This is why some commenter's suggest removing the pump end first, then the tube hangs straight. I run 60mm valves on 50mm rims, and often found there wasn't enough valve showing to adequately engage the gasket with push-on pumps, so I purposely chose a Lezyne for the screw-on hose. Occasionally having to re-tighten a core is less of an issue than being unable to achieve adequate pressure because of marginal gasket engagement. (Yes, 80mm valves are another solution, but can be costly, and a pinch it is much more likely your mates or small-town shop will have a 60mm to spare.)

Nice video, but I feel you missed out on the best trails at the park. locals only use the red and blue as a way of getting to and from the good stuff. It would have been nice to mention how it sits on the Southdowns way and is also a a starting point for some epic xc rides that start from the park, and who's routes can be picked up from leaflets that you can get from the visitors center. If you visit again I would be more than happy to show you around.

I have a cheap plastic chinese pump that failed at the moment you need it most..4am dark, alone. Could luckily get maybe 15 psi in there or less. Was barely able to keep going. I bought an electric pump from the local chinese goods selling store and I tested it thorougly and thought hey this is actually usable..to it literally failing when I just needed it to work =.=. So now I want a decent sturdy handpump like this one on the video, but one without the suicide button lol

I just read an old review of the original model and this was mentioned, though he did say that Lezene recommend to use loctite on the valve core threads. I think I'll still buy it as the other pump with Co2 capability I wanted seems impossible to get now and just try and remember to get use loctite. I'm fortunate that I use Milkit valves which allow you to take the valve cores out without losing any air, so it won't really matter either way. Hope the loctite tip is of value!

Every time I use this pump....it unscrews the core! No matter how carefully I do it. So annoying, especially when you lose a CO2 canister. So yes, you're right, it is the worst design ever, worldsworst.

obviously the valve needs to be tight but i've never had this issue probably because when I attached the hose i don't over tighten it on to the stem. just tighten until it stops. Its not my favorite pump and agree with you about the plastic but never had the issue you speak of and am a daily commuter for several years with many many flats.

I can confirm that you are NOT stupid and that this really is the worst pump ever. The same thing has happened to me EVERY time I've used the pump. Fortunately I've had friends with working pumps but the last time I was alone and had to abandon my trip and hike out through the woods (almost eaten alive by mosquitoes) to the nearest road and call my wife to be rescued.

Haven't had this experience but have read of others having this problem. One user advised adding vaseline to the threads to help prevent removing the valve.

Worlds worst KZbin Video..

I've got four different versions of the Lezyne hand pump (pressure drive, pocket drive HV, 2x pocket drive pro) for all my bikes. I did once unscrew a valve core while removing the hose. Once. And then I learned to make sure the core was well tightened first, and I've never done it again. The Lezyne pumps always pump more effectively than any of the other pumps that emerge during a group ride (except for full-size frame pumps, of course). The Silca pumps are heavy and, in my experience, don't pump as well. All portable tools have trade-offs, but over my last 35,000 miles of riding the only pumps I've carried are Lezyne, and I've been happy. They are also easy to service when you spend days riding through sloppy mud and rain and grit works its way in. We all can only go on our own experiences, and it sounds like yours hasn't been great. I'm not here to convince you that your experience isn't valid, or sell you on these pumps, but to call it the "world's worst bike pump" is just silly. I suppose it's good for your view count though!

I've had this same problem with Lezyne when unscrewing the hose, but it happened after not using the pump for a long time and an easy fix was using a bit of Lithium grease on the nosel and it hasn't failed since, "best" mini-pump ever ;)

Did you try using the presta (French valve) to Auto valve adapter and then just use the schrader side of the pump?

How does this compare to the Nicasio?

I just bought this bike for a great deal, I got the step through as I will sometimes have my baby in a seat on the rear rack. I do a lot of rides around 30-60km in the city for commuting to work, and also on gravel trails. I was reading the cons of the step through and people mentioned the frame bending when going up hill, is this a real concern I should have? Personally so far I have found the bike quite stable (similar to my old Trek FX1 (Non step Through))

The same happened to me!!!! I felt like an idiot. The valve core always came out (whether I pressed the side button or not). I'm happy to hear it's a design issue.

True, Lezyne design is rubbish. Had to use Lezyne pump on MTB marathon under pouring rain, and was "pleasently" suprised when Lezyne piece of crap did unscrew the valve.

Marin has so many bikes. Every time I decide on one, I discover another.
