Is the box rigid enough to not be crushed when at the bottom of the stack or in a side impact since it doesn't include an anti crush bar? Same question for protecting the derailleur please? Thanks

I've not had any issues with that whilst travelling with it. Once the lid is on it seems to add more rigidity for that side impact. With the derailleur because there is a decent amount of space between the component and the box, and the bike is securely in place, it doesn't get touched. Again I've not had any issues with the derailleur getting damaged whilst in the box. I hope that helps, anything else let us know. Happy riding mate!

@@mammothjourneys Thanks for the info. My bike is an XL Speed Concept with a 105mm wheelbase. Do think that would fit with space for the derailleur, etc.? The other box I am interested in is the Bike Box Alan, but it appears that the front fork would need to be removed on my bike in order for it to fit. The BBA does have an anti crush bar which seems to be a benefit. Delta cracked the frame on the 2 mo old SC on my last trip in an EVOC Bike Bag Pro...

@@gryanjr1 whoa that's a nice bike, no wonder you are doing your checks. Sucks the other bike box didn't do the job. I know it's not the same bike, but I put my BMC Timemachine TMR02 in this and it fit, with no issues on the flight. The main con of this bike box is the size of it. It's awkwardly huge. But the benefit of this con is that, I would guess, should it ever break or crack, there is enough space between the case and the bike before damage happens. This is just my guess, nothing to back this up! Another thing to note, but this wouldn't be specific to Thule kit, is the quality of the material. I presumed when I got my Thule bike racks with the exposure and use they would only last 2-3 years. 6 years later and show no signs of wear. Thule material quality is high, so I would guess they have tested side impacts to the case. In fact, if you KZbin Thule testing you can some of the things they get up. I hope that helps, let me know what you go for. I presume you need this for a decent event/comp coming up!

Thanks David. It's a really reliable tough bit of kit. I haven't used thru axles with it but it can for 15mm and 20mm. So check sizing on yours to make sure it fits. Hope that helps, happy riding mate.

Most likely no. It's fairly large. I think there are others that would comfortably. You'd probably be OK in an estate, saloon or SUV, but anything smaller and I wouldn't have thought so. I've not actually checked the dimensions to see but you could get these on their website, and compare to an average hatchback or saloon to check. Although generally at most airports there are a range of size taxis so you'd be fine I would have thought. Either way, sounds fun and enjoy the trip!

Yep you still have to take them off. At 1.40 I mentioned that but just didn't for the video. Just used the case last month to bring my Nicasio+ back and still works great at keeping it safe. Only downside is it's bigger compared to competitors, something to bear in mind.

What about the weight of the box? Some people are complaining that its too heavy and the wheels getting used very quickly. I would like to have your opinion about that Tjank you

Hi Gurgen, the box is heavy, especially compared to other brands. Although I know others wouldn't offer the same robustness. A balancing act and trade off of weight Vs support. I've not noticed any wear of the wheels with my usage so far. Hope that helps.

Do you ever have issues with the back part popping open. It looks like the front part is the only area that you can add a lock to. My concern is the top coming off from the back if someone loads other luggage on or around it

Hi Mrs K, Fair question and I can understand how it would look possible but I haven't yet. There are little indents which I guess cause enough pressure to avoid it??

Hi, yeah I would have thought so. There is so much space and the attachments arent dictated by tyre width. Although I haven't tried it so let me know how you get on.

Does this take mountain bikes? Is there enough space for Canyon Exceed MTB?

You'd have the same dismantle set up, as the width of the handlebars won't fit without doing that. But can't see why it wouldn't. Nice bike as well!

Can you tell me what the largest wheel size it will take?

I've used my 700cc road bike and also 29er MTB at 2.25 width. Never used a fat tyre bike but I would presume it would fit as I usually pack other kit around my bike and tyres. Hope that helps!

@@pault477 yeah that would be no drama. The wheels come off and have two specific bags for them and then go by the side of the frame, so they will be fine.

I bought four Thule bike racks a few years ago. The quality was terrible and the customer service was worse. I would never buy one of their products again.

Oh no that's rubbish, sorry to hear mate. Surprised to hear about the quality as all the Thule stuff I have had has been decent, and what their have built their reputation on. Thankfully I've never had to use their customer services but it's a shame they are the same as a lot of other companies - not investing in the after sales. Sorry to hear all this. Have you bought anything else Thule before this bike box?
