After 45 years of skiing i pulled the short straw and hit a metal rod a snow plow buried in the middle of the run. Its been 12 months. I shattered my right knee joint, broke my fibia, severed my ACL, tore my MCL 90%, sufferedd right leg nerve damage, and tore my meniscus. I had to learn to walk with the leg again due to the nerve damage 😭. I have been cleared to ski this winter. Your video made me laugh thanks!!! Its going to be a bit tough going from an expert level skier to a beginner/intermediate level skier. My goal this year is to prove I can still ski again and make sure the last day I ski was not the day I became partially disabled. Never give up and thanks for the positive video.

Best of luck with coming back to skiing. I blew my knee again this winter so I’m right back at it.

If you have any tips on skis what felt better or worse I would appreciate it. I was skiing on Volkl Mantras...now I am looking for a new ski just for groomer blue runs this year...then I would hopefully be back to non groomer tree skiing 2026...narrow under foot, more rocker, real short??? Get well soon

Thanks for this video. I just did ACL full tear, 3x mensicus tear, LCL tear, and tibial plateau avulsion fracture hitting spring whis park jumps. Likely will get surgery later this summer. Nice to see you've been through it and are still out shredding hard once again.

How’s the knee? I partially tore my ACL and surgeon decided against surgery as it’s pretty stable. Have you made any equipment changes? I was considering QST 106 Echo with a Shift to hopefully give me a little more release confidence vs a pin..?
@stanrey7
@stanrey7 4 ай бұрын
I usually ski the shifts but I did a big day on the skin track that day so I skied pins. The knee is not good unfortunately. I fully tore my Acl and grade 2 tares to my MCL and meniscus.😢 I’ll need surgery soon here so I can be skiing for March next year hopefully!

Do Whistler patrol recommend carrying beacon shovel and probe up there?
@stanrey7

It is technically slack country but it is patrolled by the ski patrollers so it’s kind of a grey area. But you are allowed to go without any gear but I always say when in doubt bring it out.

I'm pretty new to Whistler and knowing which days you actually were out will be helpful in trying to understand weather on the mountain vs weather in the surrounding area? Either way, great work

I love the chatter it makes everything more authentic. You are providing a thorough guide to the mountain. It allows those coming to the mountain to potentially pre scout some runs. Normally my young son skis with adaptive, but I may plan to do some trips on our own, and knowing what is a healthy level of challenge will help.
