Love this interview, done before JL was taken from the world, and Paul was in good spirits and over the split.

I’ll tell you why this interview seems awkward my opinion. In 1968. The Beatles were the biggest band in the world still are John and Paul. The two greatest songwriters of all time came on the Tonight Show to promote Apple. John Lennon was a fan of Johnny Carson‘s wit. Paul enjoyed the show. Also Johnny should have been hosting that night not have had a bald headed baseball player Joe Garlagiola filling in. John Lennon said he was never so embarrassed in his life. Tahullah Bankhead was also on there. Joe G. Barely knew The Beatles names. I truly believe Paul held the grudge all these years, but you have to ask him lol. But he did bring it up and would not play the guitar which he is always happy to do just my opinion.

Well, unfortunately she's dead now. Died of breast cancer. I hope Paul's daughters get regular checkups. Especially since Paul's mother died from complications of breast cancer. They have breast cancer on both sides of the family.

Paul definitely had a bit of ill feeling towards Carson. Maybe he was just tired and in a bad mood but I felt some of his comments were a bit sharp and intended to get a rise out of Carson cos he felt he was trying to belittle him. I know he’s got a dry and cheeky Liverpool sense of humour. But he seemed irritated. Even bringing out the cake and blowing the candle out 🤣. Maybe he felt they were treating him a bit like a performing monkey. ‘Take the cake out’ ‘play the guitar’. Johnny’s intro at the beginning as well seems like he doesn’t really know much about The Beatles. He keeps saying ‘probably last for generations’ ‘Paul is probably one of the most successful’, and saying when he first heard the name The Beatles he thought it was a silly name. So maybe they were off to bad a bad start straight away. Two very strong characters jousting.

I couldn’t stand Linda back in the day. Neither could anyone else. We booed her when she dared to go on stage pretending to be a musician. She put on a fake English accent at interviews and was very annoying. After all those years of Marriage, she got very ill, and as caring humans, of course we came to realize that he loved her. We came to admire her love for animals and vegetarianism. It was hard to watch him lose the partner he’d been with for thirty years. Heck, it was hard to watch him lose The Beatles.❤BUT the fact is, he was originally tricked into marrying her because he got her pregnant. As much as he cheated on Jane Asher, he still loved her. This has been demonstrated in many ways that history has documented. Jane did right by not seeing him again. When he was younger, not yet famous, he was going out with Dottie (forgot her last name.) He got her pregnant too and was readying to marry her. She lost the baby, fame came and they broke up. They were still in love. He never forgets her and still sends her tickets to his concerts in Canada where she has lived for years with her own family. He and John were in love enough and conditioned socially to marry pregnant girlfriends. This is why Paul married the Linda Eastman, (who predicted at the time she “would marry Paul”). I know she.evolved into a person we came to accept. Of course, I know he came to love her. For me it was harder to watch Paul with Linda than John with Yoko, because as much as Yoko was hated, the fact is John loved her… like it or not. Like it or not, I now read all these people who hated Linda back in the day talk about how great she was. The younger fans don’t know the whole story, and thus admire her… and rightfully so. She stood by her convictions and that’s the side they’ve read about. As a fan who stood outside many a venue back in the 60s, and often encountered her when she was a groupie photographer, I know how nasty and uppity she behaved to those she thought she was superior to. I never can be a hypocrite about this topic, because I was present to her behavior and how she snagged him, back in the day.

Paul's remarks at the end about John (only days before Lennon's death) call into question, to say the least, Paul's standard line for decades that they were great mates at the time John was killed.
@m.ceniza4688Ай бұрын
Well, he never did say that they were hugging and kissing each other’s cheeks by the time John was murdered, just that they were on friendly terms and kept in contact.
@ysgol3Ай бұрын
@@m.ceniza4688 Nowadays he says they were more than 'on friendly terms' - no kissing of course because they were so matey (apparently) that they hadn't met for over 4 years!
@m.ceniza4688Ай бұрын
@@ysgol3 well, we know what their relationship was like from their mouths, and it was pleasant. Distant, but nothing terrible. It was a relationship governed by phone calls and letters. And John has acknowledged to his dying day that they were still friends. I’m sure Paul has found peace in that. Now, the one I’m curious to know more about is John and George’s, considering they’re the pair that never made up after the book debacle.
@waynej260815 күн бұрын
@@m.ceniza4688I really don't think that was such a big deal. I'm confident that John and George would've been more than fine with each other, if John had lived.
