Budget probably didn’t let them have a matrix chamber and the butterfly joints couldn’t be redesigned once they didn’t work because they weren’t allowed the tooling budget. Money seems to be the answer to everything whenever we talk to retired designers.

My Hot Take is that this is the best CHUG-scale G1 Arcee mold. Any version of that design is going to have massive back-kibble problems, and I appreciate that this mold acknowledges that and just makes it removable. As for this particular tooling, definitely not the best Elita we’ve got, but she fits my vibe for an Elita who stands as an equal to Optimus. The Legacy version feels too young somehow… I’m not entirely sure, but it fucks with me in a weird way.

To be fair, I see both sides. Mirage is one of my favorite g1 bots, and the missile launcher is almost intrinsic to his design, much like host's wrist cannon, or wheeljacks missile pod. But the improvements you mentioned ARE there, and do a lot for the figure as well. I still personally prefer the seige mold, specifically the netflix decepticon deco(for now, leadfoot might make me change my mind once I get him)
