I learned something that air traffic controllers do to talk to aircraft which is an interface with rs232. They really shouldn’t release that stuff to the public people can always do that to mess with aircraft pilots. But I find it very interesting. I didn’t graduate from high school but I feel so much smarter than what I was in school. Great video btw I’m getting my radio license

The video I posted titled "Testing the Magic Carpet with a SOTA/POTA Activation of Currahee Mountain" goes into more detail on setting up and using the Magic Carpet. Hope that helps!
@radioman32295 ай бұрын
I do POTA, I started with the aluminum screen, but now I use a faraday cloth. The faraday cloth works just as well, but it folds up to about a 1"x6"x8" size. I also noticed if you remove the rubber feet on some of those tripods... you do not need to hook ground straps from the tripod to the "majic Carpet"... the tripod will ground it just as well sitting on top of the "carpet". Great video, thanks for all your shared eperiences. NS9T 73!

Another interesting video. I intend to try this idea with the mesh screen and I've got it ready. I use a mag mount to support a hamstick on my car for 40,20 and 10m and would like to do this on my RV but it is aluminium so the magmount won't hold. So I bought a stainless steel square about 30cm on a side with the intention of adhering this to the RV roof to give something for the magmount to grab. But in the meantime, I am planning to do the following - 1. Put the stee plate on the ground, 2 lay the mesh on top, 3 Fix the magmount on top, sandwiching the mesh. I hope to get results as good as yours ! 73, Pete M0 KNQ

@@rfquests I did indeed, and set up my own yesterday, following your guidance. The curious thing is it works well on 10,12,15,17 and 20 but not so great on 40. I wasn't expecting such good results on 12 and 17, so I am going to live without 40 on this wire, for now. I think the wire may still be too long but I don't want to mess it up. 73 !

I might seem like Mr know everything. Set up with the radio on the opposite side to your writing hand. For eg mic in left hand pencil in right with the radio sitting on your left side. Your 2nd Op could sit facing the opposite way to you. In my case my SOTA buddy does SSB first then I do CW second with the same kit.
