The Altera FD 20 has plastic dogs in the handle. These engage with metal teeth in the spindle, and mine disintegrated after a few trips. Other Okuma reels have stood up to years of use, but plastic parts subject to leverage are a terrible engineering solution, even on a 20 size reel.

bought both the 308 and the 308 pro as well as the 310 or whatever the ultralight version is. Customer service is great. The reels are not. All 3 have had failure of the drag notification. The pro version of the 308 had the handle grip come off.1 year of use and they are all 3 trash. Never again will I buy these new mitchell reels. The old ones are solid. These are garbage.

No, you can just extend it. Can't remove the handle not even the extension. Unless you probably pull very hard on it, but I'm not going to risk it and break it.

The problem with this is the gas can freezes up in cold weather after using it for 20 minutes. I learned a way to fix the problem, so I will probably have a video uploaded n that soon

absolute rubbish. Cant take big enough gas bottle to run all night . Also gas consumption is twice higher than other heaters.

I bought one six months ago and I'm underwelmed with the quality. Has the feel of a cheap Chinese import; evidently built down to a price. I won't buy any Fox reel in future, I'll play safe and stick with quality products from Daiwa and Shimano which always feel well-engineered and give great service.

Absolutely. I have the 2.4m in 10-30 and it's lovely. I've had 19lb pike on a lesser rod than this.
