I've had 6.5lb chub and pike about the same size and the net was ok really.

No, you can just extend it. Can't remove the handle not even the extension. Unless you probably pull very hard on it, but I'm not going to risk it and break it.

@@loz4871 Yeah, I haven't used it over winter, just starting now, but the river ban will come into effect soon in the UK. Just needed to clean and oil a bit the inside handle bit.
