Last nighy my 18yr old daughter was doubled over, crying in pain so I took her to the ER thinking maybe it was her appendix. They did a CT scan and an ultrasound and found a blood filled cyst on her ovary. She's a healthy weight, 128lbs but does have irregular periods so I'm going to get her on keto to hopefully prevent her from getting more and getting that PCOS diagnosis.. Are they all blood filled cyst or is this something to be concerned with?

I'm seeing NAMS certified doctor, I'm 65y started .05mg estradiol patch, 100mg progesterone started bleeding pretty much every other week, had hysteroscopy to make sure all was ok, upped the progesterone 300mg hoping to eliminate the bleeding. Next option would be Bijuva, then hysterectomy, but I will still need hormones, which direction would you suggest?
@jessicahitchens69262 ай бұрын
Ablation. I wouldn't recommend a hysterectomy. Again you need to do a lot of research before doing anything.

The MD managing my HRT was an Ophthalmologist and was one of the best in the country. Just because he didn’t start out with hormones, doesn’t mean he didn’t know what he was doing. I am THRIVING, as well as everyone else I know that goes to his clinic. He furthered his training, just like K&M… they didn’t start out as MD’s even. :). He treated thousands of women and the best thing he did was listen to ME and how my body responded (along with watching labs).

I had symptoms in my early 40s I was put on the pill for heavy periods and for my emdermetriosis wen I reach 50 dr put me on the mireena coil and patch, I wasn't absorbing the patch, they changed to the estragel, then my mireena was misplaced , I was spotting so they put mecon progesterone peasary to cover me and protect my womb, as I've got an progesterone intolerance as I suffer from pms😢 I had the op last week to remove the coil, it was inbeded in my cervix, they sent me home to continue the utragestran vaginally progesterone and oestragel thinking everything was ok😢 I had the biggest hormone crash with my heavy bleeding and pms and perri cane back all at once with serve cramping in the uterus and anxiety and nite sweats😢 I didn't want the coil back in as I was scared I wouldn't have a repeat on the mireena misplaced 😮 Now I'm on a different kinds of very strong pain killers and control bleeding which I'm getting bad side effects from. I'm bleeding and spotting so my peasary not absorbing, so they put me on biodenical hormones progesterone, which I had b4 makes my pms worse😢❤❤❤

Thank you for considering both sides of the cyclical vs. continuous regimens of progesterone. I am in late perimenopause and have followed both regimens. My system, for whatever reason, does much better with a static dosage vs 12 or 14 days on and off. It's so individualized and I appreciate how each of you ladies spoke to that.

As a physician myself, it really does the rest of us a disservice and undermines our relationships with our patients to say “doctors don’t learn nutrition” just because you didn’t. There is a heavy focus on food as medicine in many schools, and this is a growing trend. You can be heard and relevant without undermining the rest of us. I otherwise appreciate what you are saying but there seems to be a trend among physicians selling books of claiming to know secrets the rest of us do not. Statements such as the one made by Dr. Shanahan that physicians do not learn terms like oxidation or that fats oxidize, is patently false and frankly undermines you.
@Atnothing-h7q4 ай бұрын
Unfortunately the majority of Doctors undermine themselves. Medicine is a victim of corporate capture by the pharmaceutical industry. Doctors are graduating from medical schools with out even a basic understanding of human physiology. The majority of non communicable disorders are the result of eating a non species specific diet. Just go carnivore and kiss your doctor goodbye.

17:00 Lol, my former PCP said I was the healthiest patient she had. She felt useless treating me. So she gave me a pre-hypertensive medication HCTZ and I became impotent from it. When I mentioned this to the nurse, she said that was a common problem. Lol, enough of that! I stopped the medicine. I need a DOC to keep me healthy, not make me sick!

Her recommendation of peanut oil and sesame oil is baffling. Both oils contain over 30% polyunsaturated fats and are high in omega 6. Also, lard is no longer a healthy fat. Lard has a high percentage of polyunsaturated fats due to their heavy soy and corn diet (monogastric animals like pigs and chickens can't convert these grains into saturated or monounsaturated fats). If the pig or chicken is pasture raised (no grains) then and only then are they safe and healthy to consume. Stick with ruminate meats instead.
@gerlachsieders45785 ай бұрын
I disagree somewhat, don't shun lard or pork, that is just Saladino talk, but put more effort in sourcing... Pork is one the only proper source of thiamine, vitamin B1. Plus Lard is a rich source of vitamin D3. And many Pacific tribes and cultures consider pork and lard to be longevity foods.... Atb
@keithbarbaro75902 ай бұрын
Supermarket lard is also hydrogenated. If you read the label, it lists lard, plus hydrogenated lard, and other ingredients. It doesn't need to be refrigerated. Lard can be bought at some butcher shops.

Exactly...sugar does not cause insulin resistance, especially unprocessed sugars (fruit). Polyunsaturated fats are the cause of insulin resistance and diabetes. Eliminate the polyunsaturated fats (vegetable/seed oils, nuts and seeds, pork fat and chicken fat) and these issues resolve themselves. That's why carnivore, keto, fruitarian etc all cure these issues.
