Yes, Road pattern are stipulated. Thus reducing the car’s capabilities and damage to the hills,although on the hills tyre pressures often are let down to 5-10psi. As tyres in certain sizes have become harder to obtain a new ruling has been put in place. So if you have an 8mm drill bit it should not be able to fit in the tyre tread. This has opened up some more aggressive looking tyres , but these can often be quite stiff due to the ply rating.

Thank you for taking time out to watch our video. Motorsport like this takes place all over the country and motorsport of different disciplines all over the world. Events like the one shown help subsidise various improvements to the local environment or sponsoring affiliated charities to the landowners. Motor Clubs quite often have volunteers who repair tracks that have been damaged by water erosion or clear vegetation allowing access for all. I understand that motorsport isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, but if we were all the same,the world would be a very boring place. Unless you live in a forest , foraging for food , everybody has a carbon footprint.

In these events 4WD is not allowed , so X-90’s are allowed to compete in Rwd configuration. They now have their own class. I’m sure a large proportion of these on the roads in the UK, now compete in Classic Reliability Trials like these.

No, reversing is not allowed. Forward motion should be kept. If you get stuck, the general rule of thumb is for the Marshall to count to 3 and if you haven’t moved by then , where you are stopped will be your score. It’s very much at the discretion of the Marshall, as long as they are consistent to every one on their “hill” it doesn’t generally cause a problem.

Hello France.No currently we don’t have a video of the modifications done to the cars, but we are planning a video on the class structure and so will probably include some details of modifications in that. I believe events run like this are solely a British thing.

The car at 18 Minutes is a Marlin kit car, whilst the car at 21 minutes started of as a Goka buggy with an 1100 cc engine. Much modified now it runs an 1800cc VW golf engine and gearbox.

Glad you enjoyed it, it’s always a challenge for the driver when you can not walk the sections . Here they could see the general layout but no more. Very challenging down near the 10 and then the off camber right turn, got loose and very tricky for the later cars.

Shocked when Paul Merson failed.

ahh I think I've just answered my own question, I've just watched your other vid of cars doing the same section 👍

I think a lot of the confusion comes from not every competitor thoroughly reading the section instructions and not being 100% sure what they had to do when they see an instruction board.

Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video. The section is just where we were on the day and a second car film at a different section is being pieced together (unfortunately missed the bikes). As for the music it’s all down to personal choice. It would be great to use someone like Epidemic Sound’s but it all costs money, if my lad had 1000’s of subscribers not a problem , but until that day he has to make do with the free music choice available to him. The bike video’s historically don’t do as well as the cars but it’s great to show the variety of competition machines being used.

Variety is the spice of life. Perhaps a little heavy with the extra reinforcements that a modern convertible has. Unfortunately for these events All Terrain tyres are not allowed.

Most of the cars which we now term as classic vehicles that you see on these events have been taking part for many years, from when they were just cheap cars to buy and have fun with. Some people buy an old car to fix up and look at, others buy an old car fix it up , then have a lot of fun with it. Not many things beat the smell of mud on a hot exhaust pipe.

Nothing to stop you entering on one...there's a class for step-throughs. See you next year!

The X90 was available as a RWD variant (together with its big brother with 4WD). There is a specific x90 class just to cater for these. So they are only competing against themselves.

Bikes started going through at 4.20 am making filming at bit tricky. We have footage of some of the later bikes coming out on an extended video.

Sorry for late reply, the car is very light Vw based rear engined special driven by a very good driver. I believe the number of passengers is limited by the number of seats in the car. So for a sports car you could have two people in in whilst in a saloon 4 comfortably, but that gives you the problem of carrying more weight up the “hills”

It’s a very challenging sport, that can take a while to master.

No , this is a bonafide sport. It takes place all over the uk. Whether using Production cars/kit cars/buggies as in the video,the Sporting Trials’s cars, as shown in other videos on the channel or All wheel drive vehicles. The idea of the events are the same , ie to get as far as you can on a determined selection of “Hills” Why would you take a car up a muddy track? , because you can, it’s fun and relatively inexpensive for a competition motorsport.

Lots of heavy duty clutches fitted!! Lots of tyre smoke due to no limited slip differentials allowed.

Two cars in the more specialised class 8 , for buggies and cars built to limited numbers. A green and red front engined Rwd car (car 63) and a rear engined Rwd car (car 79) were the only two to get to the top. A couple others got close too.

Your making great quality trials videos. Really enjoying them bit of a request. Could you put the classes next to the cars on the smaller entries trials. I know you have to do a lot of editing but it would make the sport easier for novices to understand. Love what your doing - thank you for the videos.
