The last brush from SNS I’m sure is used for plaid nails! The tiny magnets you have to be careful. I had a small set like the ones you got. Used them 1 time , they magnetized together real hard & snapped. But they were cheap magnets so maybe yours are different. But they were definitely the same sizes!

I use gels far older than 2years, its essentially plastic. I know Jim from Light Elegance has gels from like their beggining that are good to use still. But I do believe that some gels that have more solvents dont "age" as well as pure gel gels. I know that Luminary is a brand that tends to seperate much more after just a little while. So yeah, I guess its from brand to brand.
@nails.boxofhope3 күн бұрын
oh very interesting thank you!! Yes, the thought of having to rotate my gels every 2 years does make me sad tbh so if I don’t have to, that would be amazing 🥹 what you say does make sense - I’ll do more research into the science & specific brand formulations! thank you 🫶🏻

Hello, I had a Question, if I get stained with the gel and clean it quickly, is there still a risk of allergy? Or is it if you leave it there for too long? Or if it is gel cure on the skin? I'm afraid that this will happen by accident.
@nails.boxofhope3 күн бұрын
I’m not a licensed nail tech / chemical professional so I would advise you to do research from those sources. Since this can be a really complex topic with lots of variables (eg product ingredients, amount of gel etc). Researching the ‘overexposure’ principle may also be useful. From my perspective, there is always a risk of allergy with any contact, and even with just using these chemicals so close to skin or on a damaged nail bed. That’s one of the reasons I prefer making press ons (among others) - so I can limit contact more ☺️ I’m sorry I can’t provide a blanket ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to your questions as I’m not a professional and don’t want to spread bad information. I hope this helps provide some clarity.

Try organizing ur magnets in a metal tin or on a magnetic white board. I keep mine in a tin and the ones I reach for most, I just leave on the outside and it “sticks” to it for easy access and easy clean up.

Great idea. I’ve been trying to figure something out also.
@nails.boxofhope3 күн бұрын
oooo thank you! Do you find adding them to something metal makes them weaker? that was always my concern, since the magnetic fields would be in contact constantly 🥺

HELPPPPPP I have a major question about the charms and rhienestone glue gels… If my charms are blocking most if not all of the gel, how can the UV light pass through and cure? Should I be mindful of uncured gel/allergies ? 😳 I’m schcaaaared !!! I’ve also heard that applying topcoat over rhinestones can make them lose their shine, so can I just glue em w the Diamond Gel and move on? no topcoat?
@nails.boxofhope2 күн бұрын
hey! so on the first question, I am not actually sure of the answer myself sorry (& I am not a licensed nail tech)! I'd recommend researching from chemical professionals/nail safety sources. Charms are widely used in the industry though, so I try to be mindful but not scared (e.g. using non-wipe gels to attach them, applying smaller amounts, flash cure > final cure in my big lamp). On the second question, yes - top coating smoothes over the ridges of the rhinestone so they keep their shine but lose the dimension/shape/reflectiveness. As above, I add rhinestones/aurora gems as the final step after top coat, using a non-wipe gel to attach them (e.g. JelloJello zig zag gel in embo clear). Hope this helps! ☺️

I always get my hair snagged in between the edges of my press on nails. Any tips on how to prevent this?
@nails.boxofhope8 күн бұрын
I've had this before! I find it's usually if the edge isn't sealed properly, so there's a slight gap that hair can get trapped in. It's a bit tricky to advise without knowing more info, but for me, I make sure to do the following: - using the right nail tip size that fits sidewall to sidewall - using enough glue to reach the entire nail bed under the press on - pressing down firmly for 20 seconds during application to make sure it's as flat to my nail bed hope this helps ☺💞

Is that jello stuff good? 😫 I’ve been wanting to buy! Do you use it to protect your natural nails?
@nails.boxofhope8 күн бұрын
It's first and only peel off base gel I've tried, but I've stuck with it since it works for me! Yes, I use it to protect my natural nails + make removal easier ☺ I've had sets last 2.5 weeks using the JJ peel off base gel, so it is durable! & if I accidentally catch my nail on something and my nail rips off, there is very very minimal damage (if any) with the JJ peel off base - whereas using only nail glue would rip up a lot of my natural nail.

I use a rubber top coat for my molds and as its clear you can add any colour and no tacky layer. Love this set ❤❤ My last 2 sets got scraped and redone as they likewise weren't translating to what was in my head🤣🤣 A part of my soul leaves my body when I see people topcoat gems 🤣🤣
@nails.boxofhope9 күн бұрын
HAHAHAH that is so funny, I laughed out loud 🤣 igy, it's an immediate difference when gems are topcoat lol. I deffo try not to top coat 90% of the time, especially for Aurora gems. Thank you for the tip! I don't think I actually have a rubber gel top coat, only matte/overlay/non-wipe. I recently picked up the JelloJello mixing gel in the SNS Black Friday sale so going to try mixing some colour into that next! Excited to make coloured charms 🥹 & yesss, the never-ending battle between vision and reality of our capabilities 😭 all good fun and part of the journey though hahhaha
