After they kicked out Dave, they only had dave’s music and cliff burton to write songs. After they used up all of Dave’s music and Cliff died, Metallica became a very popular cover band.

@ do you know which ones Lars wrote? How about Kirk? It’s kinda odd that Kirk didn’t write anything to speak of in Metallica’s first 3 albums, considering he was the lead guitarist. It’s almost like he was playing someone else’s music.

@@williamjones3480 Yea I do, Lars wrote the intro of ride the lightning and he wrote part of the main riff of master of puppets (both according to Dave Mustaine), he also arranged every single song into it's form. Kirk wrote the outro riff of fade to black, the main and bridge riff of Trapped under ice, the main riff off escape, the bridge riff of creeping death, the chorus riff of master of puppets, the intro acoustic of the thing that should not be, the final riff of sanitarium, the fast thrashy riff of disposable heroes, the bridge riff of damage Inc and all the solos on ride the lightning and master of puppets. So it would be odd if he didn't but he did.

Don’t you love how Metallica sit in interviews talking about Dave Mustaine as if he was the only thing that was ever wrong with Metallica. That family vibe of failed marriages, alcoholism and constant treatment is really something. James in rehab a couple of years ago, even Dave hasn’t been for 2 decades🤡 nearly as long as it’s been since Metallica’s last listenable album

Indisputable proof Kirk once really cared about composition and was able write a great solo when he wanted to. Such a shame he’s phoned it in so hard. He’s become the worst piece of the band.
