I think you and I chatted on Facebook a week or so after you did this. I broke this into three separate hikes since I was doing everything out and back. I agree if you're doing it all as one stretch I think it would be easier to start at Rich and work your way over to Eagle and then down the Old Logging Road to the parking area. You can finish with a long downhill stretch that's relatively easy to follow. I had to laugh during your video. As you were leaving sassafras heading to mayapple you said don't take that right hand Ridge downhill. ... well I had just been there a week earlier and I can tell you that area sucks. I knew I had gotten off to the south side of the Ridgeline but I was actually parked down that way and had that as an alternate route. It was awful. Really really thick Rhododendron and Briars and lots of down trees. No heard past to follow. Somehow or another I dropped my Garmin back up by sassafras and then while I was climbing through the Rhododendron in the middle of nowhere I lost my phone. So I was down to navigate it in my and then while I was climbing through the Rhododendron in the middle of nowhere I lost my phone. So I was down to navigating my map and compass in the middle of nowhere LOL. I still had my Garmin inreach so I was able to send out a text message to the people that I knew would be worried and I did find my way out eventually. Oh yeah and that's why I was leaving sassafras I actually saw another human being! Jeff was heading Westward and I bumped into him he completed the 4K challenge a couple weeks later.
