Wow, I wish I had watched this sooner. Thanks for all the great info! I am particularly interested in the art study/picture study packet you mentioned that's Jewish by Rachel Lebowitz. I checked on the CM Plenary website and wasn't sure I was finding what you mentioned. Do you have a link by chance?

I am a single, childless woman in my mid 50s from Iceland and I just wanted to express my respect how so many well educated parents are homeschooling their children. You can provide them with good education and understanding of your culture and prepare them for the future. Homeschooling is not for everyone but when it is done well it can be a great thing. Congrats. One thing though. The sound is too low. You need to check that.

I found out just a couple of months ago that iTalam is now offering homeschoolers access to their program. My kids used it when they were in a private Jewish school and learned so much Hebrew, tanach and chagim. 10000% worth the cost!

May I ask you why you chose to Homeschool? I am finishing year 2 using Classical Conversations. I really appreciate your thoughtful structure and I would love to emulate it over the summer months. I am on a journey toward Judaism and hoping to gently guide my 9 and 12 year old daughters with me. I want to commit to reading through the Torah with them throughout the week and year and will likely purchase a parsha reader from one of your videos. I’m also enjoying reading your Heroes of Liberty series with kids in the community. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience online!! Sincerely, Brie Hanni

I had some questions: 1. Do you have a lot of help from family? eg. Grandparents looking after younger sibling or do you have methods to stop distractions? 2. Do you ever use youtube or DVDs to educate? (other than zoom lesson etc.?) And if yes what do your children get to watch? (( I was thinking there might be exceptions like for learning hebrew.)) 3. What is your take on character training ?(often used in christian based curriculum) . I'm sure i could think of more :-) Thanks again.

We have a day or two a week where we the parents only use the language and we only read stories in that language. This is only possible if the parents are themselves fluent.

For the kids that don't get it immediately, I wonder if they would do better in 6 months or a year. Maybe they just need more time to develop and their time would be better spent playing games and going outside.

I love your videos! You totally don't need editing, I could listen to you all day! We are using Build Your Library which (I think??) is Charlotte Mason based and we absolutely love it. I actually had no idea it was CM inspired when we chose it, I just chose it because we like reading :) But I'm definitely seeing the benefit in the memorization, narration and live books. And agreed, wishing there were more discussions about homeschooling as an option in the J world.

I appreciate your videos, whether cut or uncut! Thank you!! The book reviews and suggestions are super helpful! My boys are currently loving Journeys with Elijah. Do you have any other suggestions for Jewish living books that don’t talk about ghosts and evil spirits, etc.? I’ve noticed a lot of that in Honey on the page and Basheevis’s book.

My mom loved Halloween. She grew up in Israel and felt that as American kids, my brother and I didn't get the full Purim experience and excitement that she had as a child. She treated Halloween as Purim in October and another excuse to dress up. And I think part of her wanted to "reclaim" Halloween and not deprive us of the fun other American kids had.
