Hi Robb, will you make a new video with the external vented system setup ? I'm really excited about these news carbs, but still a bit afraid regarding an exclusive off-road riding for a bike 4T without E-start !

@RobboRobinson 22 күн бұрын
Hi bud, no plans as yet to make another video on the XTNG. 1. I'm currently recovering with a shoulder injury that happened during my last race in Serbia. 2. I like the current Keihin carb set up on the bike. If it happens it will be in the winter months when I'm not busy travelling. All reports I have is that once the carb is vented its dam good. All the current sales are now vented models.

It is possibele to re & re the bedix and it bushing without removing the flywheel. But I like that you did remove the flywheel as there was a lot of grease around and behind it that you cleaned up and removed.

About £25 for a reasonable torque wrench, a few quid more for a 1/2" socket to fit the nut. Why use anything else and just end up with a (almost certainly wrong) guess on something your machine and life depends on?
@RobboRobinson
@RobboRobinson 26 күн бұрын
@@BeautifulNorthWales-en3lx I think you have totally missed the point. It’s all about understanding tools and leverage. Yes use a torque wrench 100% but not everyone has one.
@BeautifulNorthWales-en3lx
@BeautifulNorthWales-en3lx 15 күн бұрын
@@RobboRobinson Not using (or having) a torque wrench when you own a bike is like riding without a helmet: it can be done, but it's a really bad idea. I don't guess torques when I service an aircraft. It's going to lead to a failure if I do. That's why there are regulations and why bike makers specify the correct torques.
@RobboRobinson
@RobboRobinson 15 күн бұрын
@@BeautifulNorthWales-en3lx I don't disagree with what you are saying. In the workshop there's no excuse. Out in the field , forest, mountain track people have limited tools and I'm blown if I know rider with a torque wrench tucked in his airbox. We have to understand our tools and bikes and do what's needed at times until they are in the workshop environment.

Yamaha street bikes axle spec is unbelievably high! I wanta say like 140 ft pounds or some such! It is so high that least one aftermarket chain adjuster company will void your warranty on their pricey item if you torque more than 100 foot pounds which I find Yamaha's spec bizarre! WHY?

Red loctite is ok. I've gone to using a smaller amount of oil just enough to to be flicked up when the starter spins. 3 in 1 oil is good.

Why would you take 450 over 690/700ccm?
@RobboRobinson
@RobboRobinson Ай бұрын
The main reason I have this over the slightly bigger bikes is the weight and manoeuvrability. I can take this bike in to some really tight places knowing if I have to I can man handle the bike out of a hole if needed. I've even done pivot turns on it on the odd occasion. Another big factor is carrying out any mechanical work if needed. It's so simple and easy to work on. I've had the experience of working on and riding bigger bikes and they just don't do it for me. Having a campervan I can take the bike anywhere set up base and ride out for the weekend so no mega road miles. I like to take it into some technical areas where it would be unsuitable on the bigger stuff.

The GPX 450 is a good bike. In comparison it lacks the performance of what the KTM 450. Something like 40hp v 49hp. Also the weight difference is probably 10kg or maybe a tad more on the GPX. Hydraulic clutch v cable clutch. A plus for the GPX is longer service intervals. It’s all a matter of what’s your budget and expectations. I wanted lightweight & performance so had to spend some cash. The seat is available for GPX bikes.

Robbo, for an overall 2 stroke for a normal guy that can wrench on his own stuff and wants to legally drive it to the trails (i.e., dual sport), do you recommend the TSE300R or the TSE250R? I sort of like the 250R due to what appears to be a quite reliable bike. I also am just a normal weekend warrior trial rider that enjoys the 2 stroke but I don’t need it to have 52 HP like the 300. What say you since you’ve ridden both extensively?
