why is it so hard for Sony to give this camera a 1/8000 mechanical shutter? That would make it perfect for what it is advertised as. My man, you won't do anything with a 25 milisecond E shutter for wildlife and sports. This is just a glorified videocam, an FX30 without inner fan.

Bought and returned a 400mm 2.8 GM because of a loud clunk-clunk when tilted side to side…You could hear it when I carried it on a strap when walking while camera was off. It was loud. Got a replacement lens, it’s much quieter, you can still hear a slight clunk-clunk when you tilt it side to side, not just shaking it. But guessing this is normal? All clunks go away when camera is on, you can however hear a high-pitched subtle motor sound, guessing this maybe is the electromagnet?

I updated from 1.32 to 2.01. Before that I used the Imagin Edge app to transfer pictures. With 2.01 I used the Creators app. Since the update to 2.02 Bluetooth no longer works, WiFi does, but not with the app either. Bluetooth worked for about 8 weeks after the update to 2.02, then suddenly stopped working in mid-August. It seems to have frozen. The camera initialized, but that didn't do anything. I hope Sony reacts and there will be a new good update soon, including animal eye AF in video mode. The Creators app is important for my workflow and Bluetooth and WiFi have to work for that.😥 I hope it's just a bug. Lots of people with different models are suddenly having network problems/Bluetooth and WiFi...

Camera continues to amaze me! Not exactly small, but when you consider all the ‘weather resistant lenses” you aren’t packing… I found one in great shape used, but missing the eye cup. I can’t seem to find a way to replace so didn’t purchase.

I got a new canon RF85mm is stm delivered today. Soon as I took it out of the box I noticed a rattle. I got out a canon RF 24-105 mm and this did not rattle. Then I got out an RF 800mm which also did not rattle. This has me worried!

James, I have owned the rx10 iv for more than 6 years and love it. I have also owned the Canon r7 which is also very good. However, I sold the r7 not too long ago and still have and use the rx10 iv. If Sony updated the rx to an rx10 v I would certainly purchase one! Tell Sony they are missing a great opportunity to convince some phone photographers to carry the rx in addition to their phone for added benefits that it offers and not need to carry all the additional "stuff" of an interchangable lens camera. Please Sony, take your customers' opinions into account. The other way Sony would satisfy me would be to do a custom upgrade option that I would be willing to pay for.

Meine Sony A1 hat seit 13. August Bluetooth Probleme, Es ist Tot, vorher hat’s funktioniert. Mit 2.02 funktioniert die Verbindung zum Creator App nicht, WLAN funktioniert, aber lässt sich auch nicht verbinden. Kamera unbrauchbar gemacht.😢

Even though I have to use second hand, 8 year old Nikon gear it's great to see these serious lenses but can you please answer a question that has puzzled me for yonks! Why do the manufacturers of these great lenses, which let's face it are aimed at wildlife snapping, produce them in bright white? Guaranteed to scare off even the most tame of animals. I know people use Neoprene covers but I hate the feel of them. Cheers, Steve.

RX10IV is still the best walk around hike around camera ! I bought mine half and a year ago partly because of your channel when I was looking for an easy to carry short range/long range camera for a Safari I made last year in Tanzania, I do not regret it.

Wow, this looks awesome with my untrained eyes. I just purchased a second hand rx10 iv and am looking at a lot of videos to get ideas and really just to learn how to do the whole photography thing.

Sad news, I love my RX10IV especially for long hiked. I would love to get a RX10V with AI assisted focus for birds, bugs ..., focus stacking, separate settings for photo and video. By the way I never do closeup shots at wide angle, always at full telephoto because you do not scare bugs, no shadow, and object will be slightly bigger.

Really wish they would refresh and release a new version of this camera! As a dad who’s always carrying a bunch of stuff these days, this is an ideal camera for me. My DSLR or mirrorless cameras and lenses are too much to carry. I’m really on the fence and unsure if I should buy one of these now that they will soon become unsupported.

Literally. RX10IV is one step behind LOOOOOOOOOOOONG term perfection. Don't need to change anything like resolution. Adding AI functions (recognition) & Autofocus from their newest cameras, add focus bracketing, add 4k 120 fps... and if they want - they might improve glass, but don't freaking change focal lengths, it's great for everything right know. edit: forgot about screen, EVF and memory card slots, but it also would be nice to improve, basically doing those updates it's perfect for travel, photo enthusiast and even pro-level at certain usage.

Great idea with the drone. To do the spiral you could use the cruise control function. Great photos 👍

Beautiful shots. I just ordered this camera. The RX10 iv is 6 years old and still very usable. I'll be using it for a cycling tour. Have you tried connecting the DJI mic 2 through bluetooth?

Hi Stuart, thanks for the video. Is it possible to use the freewell ND filters together with the stock lens hood? Im planning to get the variable ND filter 2-5 stops, as I think that will be enough for video with the rx10iv.

Hello, I tried to capture dogs running to catch discs. The I wanted the camera to lock on to the dog and I panned the camera . It didn't work the camera captured the tree line behing dog in focus, but not dog. These dogs are really fast. What should the settings be? I don't view what I captured until I get home , because I can't see the screen very well.

So I am close to deciding what camera to buy. RX10 iv is at the top of the list. Approximately £1500 at my local camera shop (LCE). The only thing that’s stalling the process: am I buying an old, slightly out of date camera? Know one seems to know if there is going to be a 5? I want some future proofing if I am going to spend £1500 on a bridge camera. Or should I find a used FF with a decent lens? I am mainly interested in air show photography. Regards, Steve

Glad you kept the camera! What is the eyeshade piece you have around the EVF? Does that help to block out more sunlight?

V2.02 also nerf’d my camera. The result is a motherboard replacement on its way. After updating , WiFi went tits up and 3 days later my camera doesn’t turn on anymore. Tried everything under the sun. Now I have to fork out 1200 usd for a new motherboard.

People keep asking "When will they put out an RX10V?" I tell them never. Thry made the RX10iv too good and any improvement would cannibalize their mirrorless systems, especially their entry to enthusiast level ones. It's a shame because casual photographer like campers and bikers and hikers and tourists will lose out on a powerful and versatile camera.

Jeez, you made that look harder work than it is. Basics are there, but ideally you need something finer than a screwdriver or at least a jewellers driver. Next, after it first releases, you need to push both side tabs in whilst slightly pulling. But, you've given a good insight, at least.

the physical size of a sensor has zero correlation to the readout speed, as you indicated. all that matters is the number of rows of "pixels" and the electronics attached, and at 26mp this is NOT a "small" sensor.

I know so many birders like me that swear by this amazing camera. I got mine new for £1025 ! And I use it all the time - Sony should release a mark 5 - I would buy it
