If you take the battery rebate. Not sure you can do 1-1 net metering. Can you look into this please? Appears there’s 3 other choices. Thanks for the video!

Battery rebate has nothing to do with 1on1 net metering. Rebate is with GOV.

Thank you for your question. Please note that we serve Illinois and Missouri so net metering will vary depending on your local policy. For example, in Illinois: If you've already installed your system and are getting retail net metering with Ameren Illinois, then taking ONLY the Ameren Illinois battery rebate will NOT impact your net metering. You're only affected if you also take the Smart Inverter rebate, which comes from a new policy for investor-owned utilities in Illinois (like Ameren Illinois and ComEd). IL net metering isn't going away for new solar owners, it's just shifting to a lower rate. We'll soon be releasing a video on this topic. Meanwhile, you can learn more about the Illinois battery rebate here: straightupsolar.com/residential-solar/illinois-battery-storage-rebate/

Can the PW3 be used with Enphase micro inverters (AC-coupled system). I keep getting conflicting answers. Given the AC coupled version is "eminent" I wonder if I should press on getting two PW2s installed now. Will I be able to mate a PW3 with PW2s?
@StraightUpSolar
@StraightUpSolar Ай бұрын
Thank you for your question! The Tesla Powerwall 2 works with Enphase inverters right now. The Powerwall 3 is coming out with an AC coupled solution which will work with Enphase, but it is not available yet. You cannot pair PW2 and PW3 (or PW+ for that matter) in the same installation because the output is different (PW2 is 5kW output vs PW3 with 11.5 kW output). In your case, the decision will be whether you'd like to add a battery sooner (with the PW2 only) or later (and wait for the PW3 solution to roll out). It's best to talk with Jim, your Project Developer about specifics. I've sent him your comment.

@@StraightUpSolarGreat video. More information on this subject: We have already completed AC-coupled retrofit installs with the PW3 and Enphase micros specifically. They released their firmware back in Q2 to enable this.

Digging our PV system SUS installed last fall. I got my full ITC and in early May I received my SREC check. I was able to pay off my solar loans with Clean Energy CU. And being an IL AMERN customer get a great Net Metering plan. I can see my system covering 100% of my annual consumption and gifting AMEREN about 3K of electricity. And we own a Tesla. We are thinking of adding some ESS in the next year. I’m conflicted on ENPHASE 5P’s or a Tesla PW3. I can and do recommend SUS. USAF Retired Swansea IL

We love the PV system SUS installed back in Sept and going into April Amern IP reports (on by bill) I had 439 kWs banked as of my last bill in March. My first month where my PV system covered my power usage was in Feb. My True Up date is April 19th so I calculate I could have over 800 kWs banked. So I called Ameren and asked what would happen to those kWs and was told they would disappear (reset) and our new year starts over again. I guess our home has become a little POWER PLANT. Glad my NEM won't change going forward. Yea. We OVERSIZED our system to cover 125% of our annual consumption (which included our Tesla), cover any system degradation, and support ESS when we opt to add that capability. We added the Critter Guards. But so far our system has been flawless and the few glitches I've encountered were handled quickly by SUS (and Enphase) the follow-up by SUS has been superb. I received our full ITC and used that to pay off our Short Term Loan and should be receiving the IL Shines SREC payment in June and will use that to pay off the Long Term Loan. By our 1st anniversary, our system will be paid for. We'll be in touch later this fall to talk about ESS options. SUS is the real deal, and highly recommended. USAF Retired

My system was commissioned on Sept 20th, 2023. Our system has operated almost flawlessly since installed. A few panels were mis-mapped and displayed incorrectly in the app, but it's no big deal. I was told that is an easy fix when I have a future service call.

Form 5695, Part II (25D) Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit, formerly known as The Nonbusiness Energy Property Credit, is “not for newly constructed home; even if the improvement is installed after you have moved into the home.” Is there any way for a homeowner to claim the Part II solar credit for a newly constructed house?

I assume if my 3-ton AC comes on and the power the PV system is providing at that moment isn't enough, the momentary needed power will be seamlessly pulled from the GRID (or batteries) for those 2 or 3 seconds needed to get it started? That is unless you have batteries. Is that correct?

Hi Tom. Glad you're enjoying our video resources. Yes, a solar home has instantaneous communication with your bi-directional meter (which is connected to the grid). So there is no delay for starting up the air conditioner on a cloudy day.

I am learning so much from your WEBINARs. I'm currently working with Jim D and Charles M fine-tuning my system but the initial design for my PV system consists of 31 405-watt Q Cell panels and 31 Enphase IQ8A Inverters, it's OVERSIZED by about 25% Hopefully, my system will be installed and operational in the next month or two. We will be adding batteries next year and am hoping the Tesla Power 3 is out by then. Cheers from Swansea IL

We are currently at Step 3, Charles M has been assigned as our Project Manager. We are the first home in our newly developed community to go solar and armed with all the data I was provided I was able to secure our HOA's approval in less than two weeks. We opted to OVERSIZE our system to cover future growth i.e. adding battery back up and to cover any system degradation or weather-related losses given our home faces EAST/WEST and to maximize AMERN Illinois One-to-One Net Metering program. Looking forward to that day when we get our PTO. USAF Retired

Am working with Jim Dixon now on my project, submitted my ARC to my HOA on July 12th and just waiting on their approval. And yes I attached a copy of the new Illinois legislation the Gov signed two years ago stating HOAs can't deny PV panels, but my HOA claims they have 75 days to respond. I hope this isn't a delaying tactic. What happens if they just SAY NO? Who can I go to champion my cause and set them straight without me having to hire a lawyer? Will the state's AG help me?

Thank you. you made it very clear to understand. I was getting confused on thinking that no matter if you a have surplus that the surplus amount is transferred to the next year. Seems like it is only if your tax bill does not not meet or exceed the solar energy federal 30% tax credit amount that the credit is transferred to the following year.

Okay! So since I usually get a refund come tax time, I will get a larger refund due to the tax credit? So long as the credit isn't greater than what I "owe" (taxation is theft) in taxes, at which point the remainder is carried over to the next year.

After all giga watts of industrial solar is being installed with plain simple high quality string inverters. Hi enjoy all educational green tech KZbin. Transparency like this is a big part of my decision in working with a company that markets your product. Nice to know that I; the customer, is not the one to provide the beta testing of your product, which is a large part of industry today and folks don’t realize it.
