A Steely Purpose: Solar Reduces Energy Costs for Magnum Steel Works

Magnum Steel Works, located in Mt. Vernon, IL, specializes in fabrication and machining for customers all around the world. When the company looked to reduce energy costs, solar fit well with their efficient, high-tech operations. Their 907 kW solar PV system is estimated to lower their energy bill by $55,400 in the first year and more than $1.8 million over 25 years. The rooftop system generates enough energy to power 96 homes a year and offsets 759 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually.
"Since installation, our power bill has dropped dramatically", said Jim Czerwinksi, President and CEO of Magnum Steel. "The StraightUp Solar team was very professional. When they were done, there was nothing left behind to take care of."
