Casting around looking for my Bioshock fix, I'm deliberately leaving the video game alone, and chomping at the bit for the new game to come out. Lack of ANY news, proper news, about the new game, release dates etc, etc, etc does nobody any good. D'yknow the one thing I really wish somebody would do, and that's give the gamer a look behind all those locked off doors, all those Securis water tight bulkhead doors that 'quiver' and then fail to open. We all know that behind EVERY door is an insane Splicer, out of its skull in the desire for Adam - and toting a gun, fish knives, lead pipes etc, etc, etc. And we all know that Big Daddies are benign, only an idiot gets in the way of one, swiped to one side in a rib cage smashing swing of an arm, or drill, and nobody wants one of those. NOBODY EVER wants to be around when a Big Daddy goes into Little Sister protection mode. And yet, the most scary people in Rapture, the one's a player really needs to be wary around are those who have resisted 'splicing' (Suchong, Type One Supernova Brilliance, Tennenbaum, what could she have become had she not been so tainted) and those who have retained a semblance of sanity, while splicing, and able to control their bent, albeit at a diminishing return. And MY wish for the new game? The news that it may be set in the Antarctic I'm not so sold on. The original Rapture was set underwater, Infinite had the city if the air, and to be honest I wasn't really sold on that take. Get Rapture back underwater, the threat of all that sea water pressure, the creaking, the groaning of the structureI I'd like the game to be set, and I think there's plenty of scope to follow up on all these different strings or themes. And I'd like to play the game when the city is in its prime, with all the shops, restaurants, other venues open. There's more characters that have yet to tell their story. Look out, Splicer, runnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!

a bit of fun, but the accent from Nolan Kenmonth: is pretty abysmal. where is he supposed to be from?

The voice actor for Andrew Ryan had a brilliant performance. Really convinced me he is the character he's portraying.

I've been listening to this one a bit for over a couple years now, to pass the time during work Recently, i realized this little nugget considering how this whole story is framed, and begins. Tennenbaum is, by all means, completely screwed. 2 researchers, who were on the radio with a command chain to the outside world, have gone missing after reporting the lighthouse, and the exact coordinates. They left their ship behind, even. Killing them wont stop it, its just set a countdown. She mentions Rapture will be her grave, meaning she fully intends to be there once it collapses into the ocean and floods, which sounds like most of it has already happened considering those 2 dont get past the very first room in Bio 1. There is gonna be a rescue party coming to investigate. Tennenbaum will probably have to finish off what's left of the city herself before anyone actually finds ADAM. This goes completely unspoken and uncommented, which has sorta surprised me

I like how you got bill to actually sound like he might be from London. The guy reading the audiobook version of Shirley's novel sounded worse than Dick van dyke lol

So, let's see. What can we connect to this series? "Enchanted Tiki Room", Jungle Cruise? A Tour of Hotel Hightower gone awry? The preservation committee is still a thing in the cannon, Shiriki's gonna have to go to the Hightower Hotel to be preserved with the other artifacts. The Hollywood Tower Story was already done, may as well fly over to the other one & close that gap up. Possibly just so we can get some closure on the Shiriki Utundu Case, a defeat or containment of the idol. Possibly the entire tower collapsing & disappearing even at the end. Mere ideas, much merits to be had. This timeline is so much better, makes me wish this story was used in California Adventure, rather than them to take it down for Guardians Of The Galaxy. Shame.

I very much enjoyed this, almost as much as the novel. The 1980's segment was well done, and I wish it were longer. Excellent work!

Fun fact: Even if Rapture had not fallen, it still would've crumbled and fell apart eventually. Andrew Ryan had Rapture built from Aluminum, which does not handle the ocean's pressures as well as Steel. The whole structure was unsafe from the start. Without constant maintenance from Big Daddies, the entire city would be little more than dilapidated buldings and rubble by the 1980's. The water would've flooded into virtually every space, rendering the city completely uninhabitable. The submersibles would be inoperable with no power going to them. Not even the splicers would survive. That said, many artifacts from Rapture would've floated up to the surface. Still, it would make a cool game for Bioshock 4, which we will likely never get.

On the Splicer issues; I find myself wondering if any of them aside from Gil Alexander would have the forethought to begin altering their bodies for underwater life, leading to a massive uptick in sea-based attacks from “unknown creatures” within the ocean near Iceland. Odds are though that they’d become entirely dependent on the sea slugs to survive, consuming the flesh for food and the Adam to support their addiction. Once those were rendered extinct… _then_ the Rapture Nightmare would finally end.

This book and bio shock as a whole hold a special place in my heart. This was my first book I ever bought at Barnes and noble my brother got it for me I never went to a book store and reading this when I was 14 was awesome especially since I played and LOVED the first game. Hearing this now really is something it's exactly what I imagined. Hopefully we get a bioshock movie or even a show tbh I miss bioshock

Caution - there's no such thing as a nice Splicer, around every corner, behind every door one of these crazed darlings is waiting - usually with a lead pipe in hand! This radio drama will give those who've never played the computer game a feel for what awaits them. It really is a spooky, atmospheric and well made production. Bioshock truly is 'the' video FPS that everybody should 'dive' into. Your choices 'become' you, with that in mind play with a mature head on your shoulders 'would you kindly'!

@@allofmewhynot I actually ended up parlaying my experience as a theatrical set designer into a role as a Show Set Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering! In fact, all of the voices you hear in this production and indeed the other radio dramas on this channel were by the incredible talent of many of my peers in the theatre department when I was earning my degree. I can't believe it's been ten years since! But I always enjoy seeing all the comments these still receive to this day!
