Dude, try to get some culvert water diverted into the highest swale, (if you can) otherwise you've dug that one for nothing.

Hello, I'm building one too. Who did you get to draw up your plans? Also could I have your email to ask a few more questions please! Thanks, doing a great job
@nigelsearthprojects7 ай бұрын
I drew the plans myself, and then just drew them onto the dirt with marking paint. It doesn’t have to be precise when building with earthbags. My email is my channel name nigelsearthprojects at gmail. I hope I can answer your questions.

Hello, I see this video is a couple years old, hopefully you get my message. I noticed the Holmes rental logo on the excavator. Im in Killbuck area. Would you have any interest in possibly consulting with me at my property on swale placement. Ive been thinking about installing some this spring. Looking forward to hearing back from you. Mike

Do A frames have the advantage of giving more data points as I suspect the sight levels would tend to be placed further apart? Excellent video. Thank you.

Yes that’s true, but I personally don’t think that level of precision is necessary

Your trees seems very close together. Why?
@d6c10k411 ай бұрын
I was wondering if the tubes make the tree to spindly and weak requiring them to be staked after the tube is removed. BTW, you might want to try and control all those Canada thistles I see. They can take over and be hard to eradicate.
@waylonlegend460310 ай бұрын
My plan is to use the tubes until the tree reaches the top and remove and replace with 4’ wire fence. The trees will be weak is left in tube too long

Not familiar with this form of construction. Does anyone drive lengths of rebar through the courses of bags to add stability? Not sure how easily those bags might rip. Does anyone mix some dry concrete into the earth they fill the bags with to create a more solid and stable end result?
@cwcobo Жыл бұрын
Add gutters or grade and mulch around the base of your shed. Without one of these options the rainwater shedding from the roof will hit the bare ground and wet and stain your siding, shortening its life.

Oaks? You can eat acorns, and native oaks are a huge source of habitat and food for insect life, which is step one to rebuilding an ecosystem. He's not just making an orchard, he's revitalizing the land.

25 years ago my dad and I put tubes on hundreds of sawtooth oak bare root seedlings. The tubed trees are 40-60 feet tall now. The bare trees are less than ½ that. The tubes trippled, or better, the growth of the trees.
@nigelsearthprojects Жыл бұрын
Wow! Did you find do anything else to the tubes trees like mulch them?
@troypittranspo3 ай бұрын
Can you post a video of the trees? I would love to see them that tall at 25 years old. I think it may affect the longevity of the tree. Unfortunately, I won't be around in 300 years to find out

I first saw your swales video and it inspired me to try out heavy equipment on my 10 acre property without any prior experience. I now own an old 1960's Ford tractor with front loader and a cheap mini-excavator for building swales, trails, and anything else I need! Keep up the great content; I love your approach to projects and appreciate that you show the whole process, including the experiments that may or may not work out.

If you're going to be filling a lot of sandbags, look into making a sandbag filler using 6-8" PVC drainage pipe or cardboard pillar forms like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIrZZHiEjr-Siqc
