Luke how do you hold bottom with such thick line (15lb gt hd). When I use this thickness of line it almost pulls the rod off the rest with the flow pushing against it

Another enjoyable video Luke and three superb looking barbel, well done! I got home yesterday from a four day end of season trip to the Wye . Conditions were difficult with high levels and chocolate brown coloured water. A disappointing trip with just one good day when I had four barbel.

I once slipped and fell on a Shimmy Twin Power heavy feeder rod. Such a good rod, I begged that the loud crack was my left arm. It wasn't - and, yes, An outbreak of Midshipman English followed!!

I've had a lot on this winter and only managed 3 barbel since the back end of November. It always seems when the conditions are right I'm at work you can guarantee my 4 off coincides with a temperature drop ect lol 😮.

From what I've seen of your videos Luke - it's been a good season pal. When I used to fish for barbel it was on the middle Severn and I never actually managed to get into double-figure fish...came close numerous times - but never quite got there, but still, a 9lb 14oz will still fight as hard as a 10 pounder I dare say! How/what were you feeding the swim with? Hand chucked cubes or PVA'd on the hook or lead? Look forward to your videos next season mate...👍

Great fish mate i fish the wye alot and have broken two tips this season on fish. Is the section you fish on a club ticket or day ticket as i would like to try other waters on the wye. Best wishes for new season. Paul

Great video Luke. Them barbel were a nice size. Shame about the rod though. Dont think it should of snapped like that unless the line had gone round the tip. Anyway korum are quite cheap rods and youve probably got your moneys worth out of it no doubt.

Thank you 🙂👍🏻 I really don't know what caused it, maybe the tip was already damaged from a previous visit, who knows. Yeah they're cheap enough, I'll be sure to get it sorted.

@FishingwithLukee you got your money out of it anyway. Think if it was a fault with the blank it would of snapped soon after you bought it. Maybe like you said it could of been damaged earlier. Enjoyed watching your wye videos this season. Look forward to the next Luke.

Luke, you did well to stick it out till last knockings, it’s amazing how often it pays off, well done. What a cracking barbel. I’ve only ever had one double from the Wye in several years fishing it. I had a two day trip to the Trent a couple of weeks ago with a few nice barbel so that was nice.

Third double from the Wye this year. Good going. Worth getting stung for 🙂 think that long hair just doesn't keep chub away but picks out the better barbel. Any reason you swapped hooklengths from maxima to the drennan stuff?

Hi Luke. Not the best conditions for barbel fishing as you mentioned but you persevered and were rewarded with a nice barbel last knocking, well done! I’m off to the Trent tomorrow for a couple of days so hoping for better luck than I’ve had on the Wye recently.

Well done Luke! It’s nearly always difficult for barbel in hot and sunny conditions. Your determination paid off in the end! I’m just back from a week’s barbel fishing down the Wye and it was fairly hard going with just 14 barbel from 6 days fishing around Hereford.
