These types of comparisons are just f**king stupid. Like dude saying, hmmm I have narrowed down to a Honda Accord or Porsche 911. These type review are just ridiculous and not based in any reality. Compare the watch to a price equivalent brand, not on the is 10x with forever long horological history, superior materials, build quality etc.

So you're comparing the features of a post-ceramic clone to a pre-ceramic original, and you're giving credit the clone for copying the improvements Rolex made to the newer watches. Yeah, that seems legit.

For me, I'm saving a little more for a Monta or buying one on the used market for the same price.

If you dońt want to scream Rolex, maybe not buy a watch this is basically a copy of a Rolex. No originality…nothing that i would ever buy. Would rather go get a Longine, Sinn, Oris or Seiko.

With the amount of effort put into this watch its a shame they didn't design something more unique. The Ocean Rover will be classed just as a Rolex clone and will grouped with the sub $250 chinese rip offs. Why not get a Invicta and have the mercedes hands too? (- because they are essentially fake watches) Ginault can clearly build a good quality watch, now they need to design their own. The Silent Service is a nod in the right direction.

I am missing a third watch in this comparison. An Invicta ProDiver worth around $60-$100. 😁

Deeming mineral/Hardlex unacceptable on this watch implies that there are watches with box dome sapphire for the same price. Sure, some inexpensive watches might have a domed sapphire, but I'm not aware of any that have a tall box dome like this one. Are there other watches that fit that description?

I thinking about adding it to my collection, I grow up on Bruce movies and as a kids we all been influenced by him, also watch is beautiful even if I dont like pvd black coating, this time this is grteat package. Another reason is my obsession about dragons, I collect asian dragons in antiques in all forms, also i collect watches. That means this watch is just must have for me. In europe you cant buy them anymore retail and second hand pieces going now for doble price. Importing from USA or Japan comes with 40$ shipping and maybe 160$ of tsxes, so better for europeans to find it here in europe some how. I can imagine it on black nato strap with golden hardware, it will be killer. Ok lets go buy it!!!!

I agree with you, I’d also like white numerals instead of the fauxtina ones, easier to wear with almost everything. Baltany does have that design that they keep throughout their line, all their watches have that vintage-classic look. Keep the good work!

I love the presage models they make at 38mm, but I’ve got a smaller wrist. The 40mm just don’t look right for me in a dress watch style. I guess big boys need dress watches too. Seems weird for a Japanese brand to be the ones making them though.

Seiko definitely makes some great pieces at this price point, even with the increase in prices in my opinion. But the GS comment lol ouch. I probably disagree there 😆.

I got a couple of Presages. Sold a Mojito, it was too much for me. I got a SRPB41J1 with that blue degradee to black ( Legend ) and a SRPC03J1 Fubuki Sakura ( this is a dial )

I strongly dislike this case. The lines are very uninspired and far from pleasant. It's also cheaply finished for the price point. Could do with some downsizing to 38mm. As is, it's too large a dial to be considered a dress watch. Also, mineral crystal? You find great sapphire with AR on $80 watches these days

I'm sick and tired of all " watch reviewers " complaining about the sizes. Not so long ago 40mm was considered small, even for a dress watch.

Well….I’ve had exposure to these cocktail times, and owned a significantly higher end JDM with the SARX035 and I have to say these GS comparisons do irritate me. Yes, you acknowledged that the the GS is better and pointed out the price difference, but that doesn’t even scratch the surface. As I mentioned, having had owned the SARX035 which was famously referred to as the “Baby Grand Seiko” while it is a good watch, when I got my GS, I was shocked by how much better it actually was, because many people said the SARX line was a near-as-makes-no-difference replacement for a GS. I didn’t buy that, but I thought it might be in the same city if not the same ballpark…but it’s not in the same universe. It’s a night and day difference and the comparison is inappropriate, imo. It’d be like saying “Yes a Submariner is great but so are G shocks and you can buy 200 of them instead.” While true, it misses the point.

saw this in person and I honestly want one but the price is just way too much for me despite the improvements from the old Seiko 5. I mean I can get a nicer Citizen Tsuyosa for slightly less so I can't justify this new Seiko 5. I hope the price drops soon into around 200 USD
