It was a little bit too thick for mine too so I had to go slowly - i find the Sentro 48 works best with double knit yarn I just got an Addi machine and that deals with chunkier yarn much better (though it is a more expensive machine)

The number refers to the amount of pins on the machine - I would say 48 for larger pieces like that as you can work more stitches
