Damn bro, I get that "you aren't a Christian" thing from church people all the time for being a Gnostic Christian. Which they don't think is a "real" Christian. So I feel you on that point for sure.

Politics blinds us to the truth of the Kingdom within. Politics was the reason "the church" was established and remains the reason why it continues to exist. The filthy rags of this material existence.

so im a republican and i would like to first say thank you. this is the most reasonable guy ive heard in a very long time, whether left or right. if i might ask a few questions in good faith, please know i am being sincere (hoping this mans audience is as reasonable as him). so how are we defining genocide in terms of hamas? does everyone understand that during trumps first term, 0 new wars were waged, in the world? it was only when biden got in office that major conflicxts kicked off. not only that, but after trump won this presidency, rhe very next day iran cut funding to hamas and a ceasefire was called between palestine and israel. now if a genocide was taking place, 2 things couldnt be true. 1- israel would simply continue this genocide and 2- the palestinian population wouldnt have doubled over the past decade. i knoiw i didnt ask many questions, and im sorry if my tone came off as hostile. but heres the thing. i was a democrat my whole life, and to be clear ive never voted for a single republican. not one, ever. but i can only be told 100 things are absolutely positively without a doubt are true (all of which seem to be personal attacks) and none of which turn out to be true so many times.

Consider the perverse nature of Americans who profess a belief in Christ and His teachings, yet turn their back on His words of Peace and Love in order to simp for the perpetrators of His killing, done for those very teachings and an arrogant belief that humans hold authority over His Commandments. Those perpetrators spit on the very Christians they demand sustenance from in order to carry out genocide to satiate vengeance and command the Earth as they believe God has granted them the powers to do so; those people who oppose the very concept of Christ's existence now command the souls of His children to bend to their will, and will drag them to Hell in their fury and double speak.

I watched this earlier but came back to leave a message of thanks. I am in Australia and I'm feeling really discouraged and oppressed by the election stuff that I am seeing. I am feeling sick in the stomach over the affective manipulation that is used, and the feeling of powelessness it's inducing; and I'm not even an American, so I can only imagine how a lot of you are feeling over there! I have to say that I am glad that you talked about whatever the outcome, that you would still be doing what you do. What you said has been in my head all today, because really, that is imperative no matter who is in power - To advocate for the marginalised and less fortunate in our community, welcome the stranger, and definitely make a difference in our immediate reach. Remember and live out Micah 6:8b. It has been overwhelming lately, but thanks for reminding me & helping me dig back up my focus of "not become [ing] wary of doing good" personally. This we can do whilst keeping the Government accountable, as we keep starting our little spotfires of rightness wherever we can, despite what those in Parliament do or don't do. (Personally I prefer the Funkadelic kinda Parliament - One nation under a groove type policy 😁) Anyway I'm glad I caught your stream & thankyou for the peace molotov cocktail. 💙

I've been trying to think of an anti-election "sermon" to post on my substack so this is good inspiration. Just how poisonous politics and elections are for spiritual growth and inner peace. I voted by mail weeks ago and refuse to bring this into my spiritual life the way "the church" wants people to do. I'll be spending "election night" reading the nag hammadi scriptures, taking communion and mushroom sacraments and paying no mind at all to the outcome because it doesn't matter. The material realm we live in is inherently flawed, created by the blind and flawed creator "god". The fragment of The One that lives within us and outside of this material realm has no need for any of this.

It is weird when people who are not evangelicals, like atheists, always assume Christianity is a monolith. As a Gnostic Christian I do not believe in resurrection, supernaturalism, virgin births, inerrancy or infallibility of scripture (even the scripture I read which was banned by the church I do not believe it is inerrant or infallible). Pre-church Christianity, the first 200 years of Christianity was very diverse. There is much more than "conservative or progressive" Christianity. There were no pastors or church authorities. In fact when these people met together they cast lots to select who would lead study and the sacrament and everyone in the group had an equal chance of being selected. If you haven't read Elaine Pagels classic "The Gnostic Gospels" it's a great overview of early Christianity. The church's entire purpose was to create and maintain political power and create a political body rather than continue the spiritual path taught by Yeshua the Jewish mystic.

Politics mixed with the things that are holy, regardless of what brand of politics, drives love away. If love is to be centered as is the way of Yeshua, politics must be excluded. All politics. This is why Yeshua taught many lessons about the separation of politics / government and the holy things. Although I am not a canonical church christian, I recently ran across an associate pastor at a church who wrote an article about removing the American flag and all political flag signaling from the church. This was certainly a radical first step in removing all politics from this church and some in the congregation were not pleased. This act was an act of centering love and love alone in the church.

The emptiness of skepticism? Skepticism is just a method of teasing out knowledge. Science isn't being "scienced" if it is defended fanatically and it's never necessary to do so. Yeshua's wisdom in the scriptures teaches the opposite of fanaticism. Moving left to right, right to left, this is the false binary "choice" of the demiurge that leads to fanatical thought forms.

I’m rediscovering you after losing track for a bit. I remember buying your book and tuning in when you were in Brooklyn. So forgive me if this is a topic you’ve covered before, but with religion so often being used as an excuse for misogyny and chauvinism, I’m curious how you read the “roles that God chose for us”. I’ve tried pushing back against the claims of Bible Bros, but the text seems pretty direct when it places men as superior to woman. From Eve onward, there’s not a lot of good press for women. And then the gospels pretty much put it in plain terms. Am I missing something? I’m not asking you to give me an argument, maybe just a fresh way to read into the text that opens the conversation. Thoughts?
@aaronwilcox64172 ай бұрын
Actually looking at the text and questioning the Canon is a real deep dive. When you scratch the surface of it you realize how much we lnow little about it and pastors havent been taught and informed.
@robijussin84512 ай бұрын
Without the standard of the Bible being God's word, we have no basis for knowledge and truth. None. If you do not believe that it is in God's ability to preserve what is necessary in the Bible, you don't know God. and when you receive the Spirit (Eph 1:13) the only thing that explains your journey is Paul's epistles. Who cares whose pen touched the paper. The revelation of the mystery was provided to Paul directly from Christ. You'll know this because your life, thought process, and miraculous changes will mirror the information in these letters. Quit thinking someone else's historical evidence is valid. Trust God.

Jay, Are you a presuppositionalist?
@TheGnosticGospelHour2 ай бұрын
Jay if you haven't watched Bart Erhman or Dr. James Tabor I highly recommend these scholars. The church absolutely does not discuss this stuff. Yes, the historical evidence shows the majority of these books were not written by Paul.
