I live near the Dragon. However, for those who like the Dragon, you should try "The Snake" as well. It is 489 turns, 3 mountains, and 1 valley. It's also a LOT more miles too. 112 miles, actually. I rode it last week on my Wing. It's a blast, and it's not over in 30 minutes or less. Also, look up "The Road Runner." 160 miles of fun there!

Was a Sunday morning about 8 am. I haven't shared this in the comments before now, but I was on my way back to the scene of a fatality accident. Was not riding as fast as I could, was just enjoying the bike and the road. It was unknown to me that the rider had passed until I arrived at the accident site. I had left a friend who's a doctor to do what he could. The rider had succumbed to his injuries and passed before I returned. His group passed me setting up my GoPro on the north end of the Dragon preparing to ride south. I rolled off about a minute and one half after they had passed, and caught them right before he crashed. The guy was riding erratic, and I saw him ride off the side of the mountain. It was a helpless feeling. I tell you all of this to simply say. Be careful. It is a beautiful place to ride a motorcycle. If you ride quickly you have to be especially careful of other bikes and cars crossing the centerline. You always have to be careful of that, but speed only increases the risk. There are also decreasing radius turns to contend with. You can deal with all these things safely as long as you are aware. Go enjoy the road. 318 turns in 11 miles with no side roads or drives is a rider's dream. Just be aware and be safe. Keeping the rubber side down and the shiny side up. Blessings!
Thank you for the comment. Bike is stock with the exception of the suspension upgrades.

first or second gear?
@Stinger-ng5mr2 жыл бұрын
Second gear. Allows you to be much smoother. Can do it in first but it’s a lot more work and not any faster. Less forgiving.
@gohjohan5 ай бұрын
@@Stinger-ng5mr I agree with second gear. At first gear doing a u-turn from stop-start is very tricky. When moving off in second gear, it's easier.

What kind of camera and mike setup were you using

Used a GoPro with a suction Cup Mount attached in the center of the fairing. The camera level was just a bit higher than the bottom of the windshield. It can be seen in the cover photo on the opening scene of the video.

David, thank you for the reply. There is a lot going on that this video does not tell. The clip started at the store where I have called emergency services and I was on my way back to what turned out to be a fatality accident. The hard “make time trip” was going to the store. I was just settling in to a nice brisk pace on my way back. As it turns out Deals Gap claimed another inexperienced rider riding over their head. Was a sad day on many levels. When I looked at the video I had I decided to post this one. I had told friends I would do that before I left for Tennessee. Be safe.

Great video, I've been on the Dragon twice...years before I had my wing. Once on a Kawasaki ZX-9R, and the other time a Suzuki GSXR-1000. A very fun and challenging road indeed, once I return to the states with the Wing it will be nice to head that way for another run in my old and wiser age LOL. Thanks for sharing the video.

Interesting lines...early entry, putting you into the path of oncoming plus giving a poor view of the road ahead.and running wide on the exits. Looks fast with little traffic about though, I'll give you that. Just hope your not someone's hood ornament now.
@Stinger-ng5mr5 жыл бұрын
Cbr Commuter Nope, not hood ornament. Camera mounted on bike so all you see is where it’s pointed. My field of vision is not what you can see in the video. Thank you for the comment and ride safe.

:( @10:50 I was there that day. Sorry man. Do u have any data or know what the oil temp was? Unfortunately this is not uncommon for tracked factory stock C6 Z06s. Hope you were able to minimize the damage and that you will be back at the track soon!!!
@Stinger-ng5mr5 жыл бұрын
Eric H I looked after the car rolled to a stop. Water temp was 230, oil was 275. As it turns out it dropped an exhaust valve on cylinder 2. Those temps are pretty normal. No real warning is was about to go.

Good video- Please get rid of all the apostrophes that aren't needed. "Dragon's are dangerous," and "Dragon's Bite" etc. "Dragons Bite" is correct. There is nothing possessive in that statement, and bad grammar just enforces the stereotype that motorcyclists are meatheads.
