This is a great video, thanks for taking the time. When our plumber set up the zones they put two actuators in one zone. We want to separate them out into two different zones. How do we do that? Is it a case of deleting the zone and starting again or can you unbind actuators from a zone. Thanks.

Does this modification only work with the Worcester 4000/8000 Series? I have a Worcester Greenstar 30i System ErP and tried the 10k resistor but no effect? I've had a look at the installation manual for the diverter valve and all I can see is the cylinder temp sensor is required so not sure why the resistor trick doesn't work on the 30i?

You might need the relevant code plug so the boiler thinks it has a diverter valve.

The 2-point actuator is designed to be used with heat pumps and gas boilers as a diverter. Can be used with most systems where the manufacturer can control an external 3 port diverter valve.

I think you slightly over simplified the wiring. Because, as we know, when lots of plumbers did their own wiring they used twin & earth & used the earth as the switched live. After all, the earth post on most ( not all) stats is just somewhere to tidy the wiring. I,m not nit - picking, but it is still very common in older properties.
@MWPHS
@MWPHS 21 күн бұрын
I can only show how it should have been done in accordance with manufacturer’s wiring guides. How it has been done in real life or different properties (not in accordance to guides or regulations) is not something I can or even want to control. Second guessing what others do would mean no-one would ever do any video guides. 😊

@Animal666TNOTB
@Animal666TNOTB 24 күн бұрын
Most electricians run 3 core & earth for heating controls, wether needed or not. It usually depends if you have zone valves, wiring centre or not.

I (as a home owner needing a new hot water tank) was talking to an installer who was suggesting a Mixergy cylinder to pair with my boiler and evohome system. Thanks for posting a solution. To be honest though this looks experimental enough that my thinking is to get a more conventional unvented cylinder instead.

Nothing experimental about it. I’ve been doing electronics and design engineering since 1997. This is a solution to a problem of two systems they were never designed to work together.

This is a very fortuitous video! Am needing to reconfigure an existing 42CDi that was previously just heating radiators and on demand DHW to heating (a) Multi-zone water UFH, (b) Solar Mixergy (sourced from MWPHS) and (c) existing radiators. Also need to add unrelated electrical UFH bathrooms to a family friendly control interface. Been looking at HA/Zigbee etc, but needs to be maintainable without a domestic nerd. After scouring the Internet now looking at the Honeywell HCC100 and EvoHome combo. So much reading, so many questions... you think it's a good match?

After watching your excellent video I felt confident that I could tackle replacing our two old Danfoss RET230P thermostats and was expecting it to be straightforward but alas not!! As advised, I made sure that the Danfoss thermostats were working properly. On removing the thermostat cover I established that the wiring to the Danfoss was as follows; Neutral/Blue to Neutral connector; Live/Brown to the Live connector; a short red wire from the Live connector to the COM connector and the Earth was wired to the ON connector. On the DT4 I have made safe the Neutral, put the Earth to the B connector and put the Live to the A connector. The thermostat doesn't turn the boiler on or off. Fortunately, I didn't change both thermostats so at least we still have some central heating. Grateful for any advice how to resolve this issue. I do have a photo of the Danfoss wiring but I don't know how to upload it to here.
@MWPHS
@MWPHS Ай бұрын
Ok, so firstly whoever wired the thermostat originally used the CPC (Earth) which is really not advised. If it was connected to the ON terminal and you have done what you have said in the description then it should work (I looked at the RET230P diagram). Are you sure the wires are in the terminals correctly and you don’t have a wire break? If you are really not sure, get a qualified electrical professional to come and have a look. 👍🏻

@MWPHS
@MWPHS Ай бұрын
The obvious question is what is the programmer schedules set to? If the programmer is in an ‘OFF’ period, it won’t matter what you set the thermostat to, it won’t come on. The thermostat has to have a demand and the programmer must be in an ‘ON’ period for the boiler to come on. 👍🏻

Excellent explanation on how to install & configure 🙂 ... Now it keeps me wondering what happens to the HR92 actuators whenever the T87RF signals it has reached its set temperature level. Would the HR92 then be activated to completely close? And vice-versa: when T87RF needs the system to provide energy (warmth), would then the HR92 go completely open again? It would seem to me that this would consume a lot of battery power on the HR92 ... Any such "technical insight" would be much appreciated ;-)
@MWPHS
@MWPHS Ай бұрын
The evohome system actuators respond in the same way, irrespective of sensor position. They progressively open or close depending on how the room responds to the energy input. Only time they fully open or fully close is at the start or end of any heating demand.
