For the benefit of non-UK folks, a bit of clarification. Speeding on motorways is endemic in the UK, around a third of car drivers do so with up to a tenth willing to do 90 or more. In this clip 7 vehicles are seen on the left carriageway, add mine and that's 8; of which, 3 are speeding. The speeders do vary. Many will ease off as traffic gets heavier, some will even slow down to let old codgers like me pass a slow mover; but how do you tell what your speeder is like? No speeders would be bliss.

@trooper629 Firstly, I never came within 2.5 metres of speeder 1, he moved right before I made my move and was alongside as I started to move right; he was past me BEFORE I crossed the line. Watch and pay attention. As to speeder 2, I don't claim not to have made a mistake; I had to amend my judgement as noted in my post. My point is simple: the 70 limit makes for a reasonably level playing field, giving time and space for even small cars like mine to overtake safely; speeders take that away.

You clearly amost cut off the first speeder, which was dangerous on your part. The guy who cut you off is just as dumb as you are. Both of you could have caused a serious accident. In America, if you are about to pass, you must check traffic in the other lane first before you move over to pass whoever is in front of you. If someone in the other lane, behind you, is going 80 in a 65 and they're closing in on you, you better let them pass and not be an idiot like you were here.
