Many discolorations are due to oxidation. take a rag and spray on olive oil - spray the blade and wipe excess. The oil will prevent surface oxidation. Make sure the blade isn't rubbing on the sharpening stone or any part of the aluminum frame.

Look at the Vessel bits. I love them, they’ve become my go to and favorite. They use the Japanese 1/4 standard but I have the Anex ratcheting screwdriver and the Wiha Centrofix bit holder which is the most secure but holder I’ve come across. The vessel #2 Phillips long bits also have the thinest shaft I’ve come across.

In UK we have fuses in plugs. These can sometimes fail due purely to old age and previous stress. The trick test will enable you to test the unknown status of the fuse before putting it the plug. If it don't work the screen it sure as hell won't work the washing machine. Just a simple go/nogo test for the fuse. Nothing else. A quick way to sort the fuses in the bottom of your toolbox.

This was really helpful. I love your videos. And that's why I decided to join biomedical engineering. I am in my freshman year here in Uganda still holding on and hoping for the best. I would like to improve the quality of health care in Uganda by improving on the quality of medical equipment. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration to many

A manner of finging out it's likely output voltage is to read the capacitor's max voltage and divide it by 2. Properly devices uses to have capacitors for double voltage than they need to work on for safety..

Videocards like the one you showed in this video are always handy to have as spare, but also if they are broken, these silent ones with big heatsinks can be usefull. Those big heatsinks can be used in different kinds of DIY electronic projects for cooling voltage regulators, power transistors etc......

There's definitely a lot of salvageable parts from the medical equipment side! I have a decommissioned table top sterilizer that I will make into a vacuum chamber. Computer power supplies as well are very good and stable source of DC voltages. I used one to replace a broken power supply for our CT scan console, all it needed was 12VDC and we were quoted several hundreds of dollars for a replacement, I simply got one used computer supply off the shelf and its been functioning for stable for many years now. Salvaging parts is also very environmentally friendly, they don't immediately go to waste field and will get a second life! IF we use them :)

It's still cool though. If you live in the UK and have a box of old mains cables hanging about. This could tell you why you put that cable to one side. Because the cable's fuse is bad. Unless it's a Chinese fuseless cable in which case you should cut it in 2 and bin it.
@BjornV7817 күн бұрын
In general a fuse "blows" due a overcurrent or short circuit situation, but fuses also fail due aging. I have seen it multiple times when i worked on older devices and when i worked as a car mechanic. If the circuit is inductive or has large capacitors like a amplifier, every time you power the device, a surge current for a split second goes through the fuse. If the fuse is a regular one and not a fast acting one, the wire inside the fuse will fail after a certain time of years. When you then replace the fuse, the device works again for many years. Also, with the very low current fuses in the mA range (below 100mA), these fuses have a wire thinner then a human hair, and these can also break due mechanical stress when a device gets a hard bump. My advise is to see for damage on the device/circuit (burn marks, bulged capacitors etc....) and if no damage is seen by the naked eye, to replace the fuse and check the currentdraw in normal use and standby of the device. If those measurings are okay, no further investigation is needed. Because if you start measuring all kind of components in a device or circuit, you can start a rabbit hole that is not present and loose a lot of time.
