Thank you so much for this video tribute to Boyd. After watching so many of his videos of him building and teaching those of us who wanted to learn to model, it was almost as if he were a neighbor or good friend. Even for those of us who never got to meet him. He will be missed along with his infectious passion for the art form known as scale modelling. Thanks again Jason and thanks for being another bearer of the community torch.

So gutted to hear Boyd has passed. Always enjoyed his videos. He had such a soothing voice and his sharing of knowledge was so generous. I often listen and watch his videos when I'm at work or home. A true genius and an even better human being. Rest in peace Boyd. 🙏 You're going to be missed!!

Trekworks was the first KZbin channel I stumbled upon when I was looking at the 1/350 Enterprise Refit for my dad and I have learned many tricks from Boyd for the lighting, Boyd definitely was a great inspiration to the modelling community.

Hi Jason. Thank you for the tribute to Boyd. I literally just saw him. On April 24th I met him. I'd purchased his Ultimate Space Battleship Yamato to help support his treatments and went to his house to pick it up. He looked great. He was in good spirits and seemed to be physically recovering and getting stronger. And, I have to say, he was so nice and the coolest older nerd I've ever met. He spent the better part of 6 hours showing me his workspace and his model room while we just talked about everything science fiction and the modeling community. I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear he'd just passed away. I will treasure the time I spent with him, the model he made and how amazing his show was. He inspired me to start modeling again and his videos always had great tips on techniques and experiences shared. I will really miss him. RIP Boyd Crompton.

Having to sell his personal Collection, at first, seemed like a huge bummer. BUT, it allowed more fans to 'have a piece' of him. And it allowed a number of people to transcend the para social relationship and (like yourself) got to meet him

Sometime back in the early 20 teens, I had picked up a VTTBOTS Seaview kit on Amazon. Had no clue to lighting it, or the build process. Hadn't built a model in probably 2 decades. Found a You Tube video series from Boyd on the very same kit. It sparked me to start building again. I learned so much from his build series and from the live streams. Was so saddened to hear he had passed from complications to his cancer treatments. Was looking forward to his return to the livestream videos. Condolences to his family and friends. The modeling community is a little less bright without him.

I have never tried the tube method before, i do however position the LED's to shine onto these areas, but i also use the "Ratheon" effect too, ie light the spot light areas by the starfleet emblem, the combination of the two works very well.

Jason! Did you know that a resin “neck” for the Enterprise B and Excelsior exist? To use the neck that’s provided in the kit, is a pain in the behind! The rasters or lines in the neck doesn’t align properly and you need to sand and re-scribe the lines towards each other! I’ve got a couple of them in my stash.
@michaelbenjmitchell14 ай бұрын
@JasonsModelShop There is also the GreenStrawberry aftermarket shuttlebays they have out too that will add detail to the kit. Too bad the saucer shuttlebay isn't plug and play unlike the Federation Models shuttlebay. The Green Strawberry one has you remove a large section of the saucer to install it. On the other hand that set also includes the secondary neck shuttlebays which are plug and play no mods necessary.
