It wasn’t a problem as many people seemed to be able to speak English; however I was only there as a tourist/visitor over 3 days so my experience is limited!

Actually, Warnemünde is part of Rostock. Between the city centre and Warnemünde there just are lots of apartment complexes build in the 70s ;)
