You are 💯 % right about the massive control of music, bands, etc. today, mainly now as you said Country music. I love all genres of music but it's a damned shame when they bands & their music are controlled as you explained. I missed watching the Grammy's this year and now glad I did. I'm so glad alot of the late 70s,80s bands are coming back onto the scene and touring plus producing new albums. You did an awesome job explaining what is going on in the music world, I knew about alot of it already but thanks a million for really dwelling deeper into what's going on in the music world, keep Rockin' On,awsome job. ❤

Interesting news, Japanese recording associations have united and created the Japan Music Awards, a Grammy-type award. There will be an awards event in May, I think. 60 nominations, including 5 for foreign artists popular in Japan.

"Other than that dude from France that competed in pole vaulting with two poles..." had me ROTFLOL! Good Lord, what a great rant. Will Smith's kid's hat an odd moment? How about an out-of-touch with reality moment? He literally wears a castle to a ceremony that was dedicated to all the people who lost their homes in the LA fires...and you could even say the castle looks like it's scorched. SMDH.

Judas Priest's nomination rather indicates that there are a lot of old, white American men on the jury. That's why a band like The Beatles, which no longer has any significance today, wins. These guys live in a music world that no longer exists and choose what the US music industry spits out. They aren't interested in what's really happening because they don't listen to or follow current music. What I would like is for every metal band that wins to introduce a metal band that wasn't nominated. "Hi, I'm X from Y and thank you for letting me win this award...because..."

It was the Beatles created by AI, they actually gave an award to artificial intelligence
@Mischnikvideos

@@Olkam-w5u The award was in the best performance category. In the music video, they not only released a new song that previously only existed in fragments, they also resurrected the two dead band members. The future of music is secured, thanks to AI we get new videos and music from The Beatles and don't have to get used to or search for something new. It's scary that the AI is as good as any average musician. This scares me even more because it freezes the mental world. Anyone who thinks this is worthy of an award is brain dead: The Beatles - Now And Then (Official Music Video)

@@Mischnikvideos AI won't create anything new, it will learn from the Beatles' record bank and generate songs that will be variants of the songs that already existed. Chewing gum. But it's enough for radio and Spotify tracks, stupid people won't be able to tell the difference.

Grammys, like Oscars, are just an American industry thing, their showcase. They don't represent the best music or movies in the world, and I don't feel they are worth of wasting energy or good mood on them. Is like a parallel universe perfectly ignoreable. Even if I was a country fan, I wouldn't give a crap about Beyonce winning. Fortunately we have access to all the music in the world, good or bad, and we can enjoy it whenever we want without the need of a commercial act telling us what to like.

Gojira a Franch Death Metal band named after a Japanese kaiju character... would love to see them with Versailles a Japanese Symphonic Metal band named after the French palace of Louis XIV. Note also Judas Priest's new Album sounds like a lot of Japanese Power Metal Bands from the last decade.

Loved your rant. I would say even in the 90s and early 2000s we had a little bit of “alternative wave” in the charts and MTV (was still playing music) at least in Europe and UK. Bands like Blur, Oasis, Aqua etc. But ever since ,,crickets. However, alternative music (and I add metal to this) is having a renewal nowadays thanks to KZbin, streaming etc. and bands like EC, Babymetal, Bollywood are doing amazing work in mixing the genres etc. Grammys etc are always American centric, so having non USA based artists getting exposure is amazing. Gojira today, EC soon 😊

Saw an American Idol type of TV show, once and the votes included an Audience input, 50% and the Celebrity Judges got to cast the other 50 %. Well in this one episode 90% of the audience voted for one act, and after the audience vote was counted, the cekebrity, was supposed to vote x% for one a y% for the other, and they used 100% for the act that they wanted to win which only got 10% , and yhe Celebrity gave 0% to the one the audience wanted, which slowed to everyone watching the show on TV that the entire show was rigged, and the show almost immediately lost rarings and was canceled. Why cast a vote that costs money to vote by phone, when your vote doesn't count.

Had that same experience as you anout Electric Call boy and BabyMetal, but in the 1990, i would be listening to songs and people would ask who is that and I would say Shakira or Selina and people would say never heard of them, then I would tell them. You Will, now almoat everyone knows Shakira and has seen the movie about Selina. It just takes decades to get people to listen to anything that they are not programmed to listen to.... this is why about 80% of my KZbin watching and comments are reaction channels and song requests for artists that they would not ever hear of otherwise.

In Japan the music industry had no interst in Female Hard Rock and Metal Bands so and all Female Metal band named Aldious started their own Record lable printed up a bunch of CDs and sold out near overnight. This got the #7 on the Indie Chart, then they got invited to provide a song for Mosters of Metal, the a TV show picked up one of their songs, Spirit Black, for a national TV show's Ending theme, and thus the whole underground All Female Metal Scene became exposed to the public, and ecploded onto KZbin to a worldwide audience.... Why would i listen to the same 4 chord American songs with no melody and lazy vocals when U can listen to a more musical complex song... You should check out Chainbrain channel. He plays guitar to Rocksmith on songs he never listened to... Check out his Versailles Philia and Galneryus Angel of Salvation play throughs and see exactly how intense and complex and difficult these Japanese songs are, no I iv V progressions in these songs. Marty Freedman was on Rick Beato explaining how Japanese music will have a dozen chords in then.

this is probably gonna sound REALLY ignorant ....but can't soldiers/operators who "officially" retire/quit get admin or basic jobs in the military? I do get (not understand) that coming back from multiple deployments gets you taht "i got this" feeling....but when faced with either pencil pusher job or homeleness... does the US/VA even offer a transition job?

LMAO, I am in the same boat as you, I listened to songs from the 60s onwards. But I never let the music industry determine what i liked.... By 1990, i had just got out of the Navy and had just come back from a med cruise in 1989. And when I got back the entire US music scene was turning into garbage so I started listening to European and Latin music and found good music and in the 2010s I got high speed internet and discovered the Asian music scene J Rock, J Metal, J Pop, Kpop and Chinese music... And now whenever I hear recent American music all I think is Thank God I abandoned this Crap 40 yrs ago. The US music industry has no idea how to make music anymore. I watch some Rick Beato vids on Spotify top ten lists, and he as a producer always says how well produced it is, but to me 99% of those songs are absolute garbage, 3 or 4 chords, over compressed no melodic structure, lazy monotone vocals, the same drum beat, same musical themes, not one bit of musical innovation, and the worst singers imaginable the singing has this nauseating saw tooth effect... sounds like the volume knob is turned down, and over the course of the measure the volume increases ateadily, then at the end of the measure it is quickly dropped back to zero to start the next measure like this.... / / / / /....

Ciao Bro 😉 old skul nerd from Italy here 🎉 I love so much your vids and I think your competence is out of this world. You don't need any suggestion on my side, anyway here you have a couple of names coming from the Nineties. The Afterhours, from Milan. Hai paura del buio (1996) was a great album. Not indeed metal, more prog rock, yet very effective. And the other one is a little relatively unknown band coming from Northeast (Treviso): the Estra. Alterazioni was a really nice album. More rock than metal, yet dark and vibrant. Well, that was from my littke bubble. Go on with your work, thank you from your fan base. 💙

I frankly don't want any of the bands I like, especially those where I like the people in them to be exposed to that crowd. Nothing to be gained IMO. They can have their award ceremonies and parties. It just chews good people up and spits them out. As much as I love to see music I like recognized it just isn't worth it. I would have wanted to take six showers just being at event like that.

I said the same thing on Rock Feed's vid - You know the awards are a steaming pile of horseshit when the very metal performance that won was aired to potentially billions around the world at the olympics, but the award for it was still not worthy of including in the ceremony's broadcast. Not to mention the guys were sat SO FAR from the stage they almost continued on to the next fucking award before they even got up to the stage. Poppney won the entire night as far as I'm concerned - everything else (other than Gojira) was just....gnats. (P.S. Forgot Metallica when listing the nominees for metal performance. Normally I wouldn't be the kind that's like "you forgot blah blah" but it's worth pointing out that not only did Gojira actually win, Metallica DIDN'T.)
