My critique is that you lost 2 seconds of escape time by continuing to cut after the tree started to fall.

I"m far, far, far from an arborist or lumberjack... But I do rather enjoy the varied comments. Some suggesting this was textbook, picture perfect - and others suggesting he done effed it up. I have no idea which is right - but I think it's a win when the tree falls cleanly without hitting the anything/anyone.

That’s a $650 saw, with tax over $700. You can’t even buy a used one for $100. I have one and it’s the best saw I’ve ever owned.

Is there a reason you didn't go around the crank seals? I'm doing a 192t right now and it seems it needs sealant around them
@pauldiesel45829 ай бұрын
Why bother with that notch? Your back cut is going to have to go through the whole trunk with no hinge created. Very dangerous!

@stevevogt8669 ай бұрын
your fist cut prior to this short vid is way to small. need to be half way through.
@Larrybird19809 ай бұрын
Not halfway through. Good rule of thumb is face notch is 80% of diameter of tree, or generally about 1/3 the way.
@Larrybird19809 ай бұрын
He needs to open the notch up much more. Not necessarily go deeper
@stevevogt8669 ай бұрын
@@Larrybird1980 never would have thought what looks to me, a non-arborist, as a short face notch wouldn't keep a tree from potentially falling the wrong way. 80% of the diameter or generally 1/3. so a 100 inch diameter would be .8 X 100 inches = 80 inches??? yet 1/3 of the way would be .33 X 100 inches = 33 inches. so we have a 47 inch depth of a face notch to play with to get it right. I am glad I do not cut trees down for a living.
@Larrybird19809 ай бұрын
@@stevevogt866 the 80% is the width of the face notch. If you had a face notch width of 100% then you would be cutting halfway through the tree. A 80% width is about 1/3 the way through.

VERY S_L_O_W on dry wood, you need a heavier saw or perhaps a good sharpening on that chain.
@jamespotter16499 ай бұрын
why would you carry on cutting into the hinge and risk the tree slipping back on top of your legs what an absolute muppet
